5740 or SkyD blue?
This may be a dumb question, because of the difference in price and this being a Patek forum. I’m interested in a white-metal bracelet blue-faced watch as my next piece, and am enamored by both the blue SkyD 326934 and the Nautilus 5740, but for different reasons. Rather than spill my reasons, I’d like to get insight into other’s thoughts: at msrp, would you rather the 5740 or 326934?

Easy choice here for the 5740 but it is a $100k price delta at MSRP completely apples and oranges comparison. Very difficult to attain at cost, grey cost is lower 200s. The 5740 IMO is as good as it gets across almost any watch. I've owned the skyd in blue and tried on the 5740 many times, it will be my next watch, the 5740 would win everytime. It is a much thinner and more complicated watch. I would say, if you are looking for more attention, the skyd is much larger and will get noticed more than the PP.

its not even a fair comparison. a simple AC patek is better than the SkyD because that is the area that patek is specializes in (complications)

5740 all the time - it’s well worth the price differential
the Sky D is a hefty piece of steel and wears totally differently to the 5740 |

No brainer if available and have the money.. 5740. Although even if you own multiple Pateks that's a tough piece to get, bar going grey

There are so many other pieces not as sought after or "valuable" as the SkyDweller that I would rather have. Easy choice for me 5740. One of the nicest watches in the market and at MSRP... hell ya!
I'll chuck that SkyDweller so far and book it to the AD for the 5740 immediately. |

If money is no object and you can get it at MSRP, it is really a non-starter.
This is almost like asking if you should buy a Lexus LS600 vs a Ferrari SF90. Both are nice for their own right but just not in the same league. But then, what is the rest of your collection? If you already have too many "Ferrari's" in your stable, the SD would be a nice compliment. And since you seem to have access to both pieces at MSRP, I would risk to assume that you should already have a good collection and relationship with an AD for either Rolex or PP. If so, go try them on if you have a chance and see which one sings to you more. |

If you can get both at MSRP, the answer is clear - Get both
