Daytona vs Sky-Dweller

Currently have the Daytona two tone on order from an AD. Recently went into the AD to look around and the Sky-Dweller caught my eye.
Which one to get? Investment wise I know Daytona all day.

The sizes are so different. SkyD is huge. Which is a better fit for you?

I have a Sky-d so I may be biased, but I think its a "sleeper" as most people don't seem to know about it (Daytona is what people know) and the dial and functions (rotating bezel and annual calendar) are unique to the product line, and the Grey prices and steadily increasing.

Tomorrow all Sky-d owners will have to adjust the annual calendar until this time next year...

You will find the Daytona is significantly more comfortable. They are two completely different watches in design and function.

When did the conversation about which watch to buy turn to investments. Where are the days of buying a watch you love for the design and function. Sad what has happened to the watch market and the people buying them.

The Daytona for an investment for sure, but the sky dweller may become more popular because of the annual calendar system

sky dweller steel blue dial is the lowest supply regular rolex in the lineup according to ADs

so if you think demand is strong which i do the supply demand equation is strong for this watch

Given a choice, I'd pick the Sky-D. It's got a date window, 24 hour dial for two time zones, and a novel calendar function. The Daytona has a dial cluttered with busy subdials that most owners never use and no date window.

An easy decision for me.

Sky-D felt huge to my 7.25 wrist. I would try it on first.

I tried on a Daytona and Sky-Dweller on over the weekend. The Daytona looks so small on my wrist. The Sky-Dweller not as bad, but the Sea-Dweller fits the best so far.

Night and day differences between these. Don't even understand how they can be compared.

Hard to say….. both beautiful pieces. I was looking at Gray Market prices for a Sky Dweller SS with Fluted Bezel Blue Face on Jubilee and they are selling upward 42k. I couldn’t believe it.

If you have a minimum of 19 cm in your wrist and you like heavy watches, you can safely try the Sky-Dweller, and the Daytona is a light and neat watch that fits almost every hand.

Personally, I am waiting for both ...

I agree with this. I have both a blue Sky D on jubilee and a black 116500 Daytona. They are just way too different to compare. I think the Sky is a fantastic watch....much more legible than the Daytona with more useful functions/complications. I have a 6.75in wrist and I don't think it's too big for my wrist but it is quite flashy and noticeable as it won't fit under shirt sleeves easily and "go stealth".

The Daytona is gorgeous, comfortable, and versatile in terms of wearabiilty. You can wear it with anything. The chronograph is useless IMO and the legibility sucks but it's just so nice to look at who really cares?

I think a Sub is the most useful, iconic, easy to read, versatile watch Rolex makes and that would be the first Rolex I'd get and if it's only going to be one Rolex it would be that one but once you start collecting....i'd get the Sub, then the Sky D and then go for the Daytona. If you are looking for an investment though it would be the opposite order.....Daytona, Sky then Sub.

I guess it depends on the size and shape of your wrist, the Sky-d fits me perfect and disappears like my Sub my wrist is a bit over 7 1/2, but Milguass and DSSD JC fells heavy and thick and rotates on my wrist...

Wrist size and fit should always be the primary deciding factor IMHO.

Normal/smaller wrists, Daytona. Larger wrists, then Skydweller or if you can swing it, the new AP ROC. Very large wrists, AP ROO for a chrono.

I have both. What I think:
Whita daytona > blue sky > rose daytona chocolate dial > any other daytona > any other pm sky > any other watches, incuding didun design > tt and white/black sky

2 completely different watches. I would base that decision on aesthetics, wrist size, and functionality. What is your reasoning you would want the skydweller over the daytona?

Have a 6.75" wrist and love the SkyD! Brilliant implementation of an annual calendar movement. Since you have a Daytona, I vote for the SkyD.
