Thanks for your advice
Hi,
I'm interested in purchasing this melrosejewelers.com/info/rolex_watch_mens_gold_day_date_super_pres"ident_ch ampagne_string_3ct_channel_set_129.html and would like any feedback. Is this a good price, has anyone one here done business with this company? Thanks for your help. Follow-up I'm trying to post a reply but for some reason my post does not seem to appear on this thread so I have to keep editing this post for follow-up Thanks very much for all your advice and not making me make this huge mistake. Your inputs are valued. Can someone point me in a direction where I should start looking and some genuine sites. I’ve never had a Rolex so I’m kind of a newbie but I’m really interested in getting one. I don’t mind doing some research. Again thanks for all your responses. I would not give Melrose Jewelers a penny of my money, they specialize in aftermarket everything. Do a search in the Buyers/Sellers Who's who and you will have your answer. BTW, its a Frankenwatch.

I would pass. The bracelet is stretched beyond belief. The fact that's it's a frankenwatch doesn't bother me as much as the condition of the watch. You would spend a small fortune just to get the bracelet to be somewhat wearable.

Read the fine print from the MJ Website
Please Note: "While new Rolex watches are guaranteed to be waterproof for one year when purchased directly from a Rolex dealer, after this period there is simply no way to absolutely ensure that your watch will be 100% waterproof. Preowned Rolex & Rolex Subsidiary Watches are not "Waterproof" and thus our warranty does not cover water damage, including crystal fogginess or movement damage. We recommend that customers treat their watches as "water resistant" and thus do not expose their watches to an amount of water more than a small splash from washing one's hands. This policy is standard across all Preowned Rolex watch retailers." What a crock! Scott

Italian 18k bracelet? Meaning not a Rolex bracelet. That's a big warning sign right there.

Hi Yume-sama.
Is that your watch in your Avatar? I’m looking for one similar to that one but with yellow gold instead of the white. Which is a good and trusted website I can buy from? I’m so glad that I asked here before I purchase from Melrose. I was minutes away from committing. |

What is a genuine Rolex? Does it mean if the dealer adds diamonds to the cristal or bracelet its not a genuine Rolex anymore? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm just learning about the Rolex watch. I thought the more educated I am about the Rolex watch, the better I would be to make the correct choice.
Thanks for all the feedback. Kris. |

Try Swiss Luxury, DeMesy, Alan Furman, or Bernard Watch. That's a good starting point. BTW, Yume-Sama's watch isn't white gold, it's platinum! |

Kris, anything that is added to a Rolex that is NOT from Rolex, is considered "after-market". Rolex will either not service a watch with aftermarket parts, or will replace the aftermarket parts during service. Best just to stay away from that.

Yes, Many Rolex models can be had with genuine Rolex precious stones, and various dials, etc. Absolutely! You just need to be careful who you buy from. Always buy the seller! Swiss Luxury and Alan Furman sell new, with NO aftermarket parts. DeMesy and Bernard sell new and used, and MAY have an occasional used piece with aftermarket parts, but will tell you up front if they do.

What's your thought on this one? Is this a good price? I like the Day-Date President so this model is my first preference.
I took your advise and research the three AD you suggested. This one is from Bernard. Thanks for your help. Kris |

The one's I referenced are not ADs. They are grey dealers, but trustworthy.
That president you're looking at has an aftermarket dial... "custom champagne diamond dial". I'd pass on that one. |

If I was going to get a pre-owned yellow gold Prez, this is the one I'd get...

Swiss Luxury, Alan Furman, and look into Stein Diamonds also. All of them are outside the great state of Texas, so NO sales tax.
