Switching Boutiques?

Hi all,

I currently own a chrono, which I bought long before prices went through the roof. For the past year or so I've been trying to obtain a 15500 from a boutique. Being that there were no boutiques near where I live on the west coast, I flew to NY and met with one of the sales associates. We hit it off very well and had a 4 hour conversation where he said that he'd do his best to get me the piece.

Unfortunately, he left AP and I was directed to a new associate. We seem to have a good rapport but all communication has been through text or phone- I still haven't had a chance to fly to NY. They have just told me they are working on it and to be patient. Recently, an AP boutique has opened up half an hour from where I live. Is it worth switching my account to the one closer to my house? I know AP is all about face to face interaction which would be much more doable with the local boutique or is the initial visit with New York sufficient? Do I need to fly out again since I was handed to a new SA?

I would at least pay the boutique near you a visit and see how your conversation goes with the SA. If you hit it off, I would more than likely switch.

Which boutique is the new one near you? Aspen?

Or if location is sensitive, would probably consider if it’s a JV boutique or wholly owned corporate one.

Finally, all tough with 50th this year. Would say impossible this year.

If its the aspen boutique - you would be in great hands .
The manager is fabulous !!! She is a real people person and part of a great team.

Hmm.....tricky, tricky...

Personally, I'd stick with NY until they give you the boot back out to west coast.

Also, I know the SA will always say they don't mind the transfer, but it sounds like sometimes they kind of do behind the scenes, at least if they value you as a high value potential life long client.

More info that may or may not be helpful:

The blue chrono that I purchased was not through a boutique.. though I showed that I still have it and haven't flipped it

Went to Costa Mesa where they saw that I had previously stopped by New York. They suggested that I stay there given that was my point of initial contact though they mentioned if my SA wasn't receptive I could switch over.

I probably speak with my NY SA once a month. They mentioned that AP is really trying to push the offshore line (not sure if that's a brush off) and to be patient

My local boutique told me that corporate wants them to sell to people with zip codes local to the boutiques. No more out of towners.

Who knows what the truth is.

This is a crazy game and no one knows the rules for sure.

This is absolutely true for new clients as the boutique footprint has expanded. But the tricky part is when a client already has a relationship before that decision went into effect, since you know, you're potentially taking away a whale from a SA and that's not in anyone's interest.
