What watch was in this movie?
Recently, a lot of us listed Ronin as one of our favorite movies in a thread, as well as, quotes from the movie in another thread.
I watched it again last night and still can't figure out what kind of watch DeNiro wore in the flick. Does anybody know?

Good question, Craig. I'll have to put the DVD on and check it out.

Good luck! I had it on pause for a good half an hour and couldn't tell. There are two great parts to try it on. When DeNiro hands the French guy the specs in the ice rink and when DeNiro hide the pistol in the back of the pub

Heres a photo I took of the TV during Ronin earlier.
My uneducated guess from the blurred image is its an IWC. Not sure on the model though. Any guesses fellas? |

I'm not sure what watch it is, it looks almost like a chrono, but it's hard to see any pushers. That 'movie watch' website says he wears a Speedmaster on a strap, doesn't look like it though, my thoughts are with IWC as well. Have to have a look myself.

I found this site earlier that said he wore a Sppedmaster, but your frame just dispelled that http://members.optushome.com.au/heliosz/movielist.html

I have an idea. Let's see if we can sell it to Hollywood.
There are all these movies with the subject in the title and then the obvious "SOMETHING OR OTHER, the Movie" We need one "Watch - The Movie" 2 hours about watches. Sounds like a Seinfeld episode.

I used to tend bar at the Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City and served DeNiro a drink once. He's not a large man, so I would imagine that this watch on his wrist is of a small diameter to have the appearance that it does

Question. In the movie "Trading Places", Dan Akroyd goes to a pawn shop to hawk a watch to get money. The pawn shop owner thinks the watch is stolen because it is too nice. Dan Akroyd then goes on to say what the watch is and what it does. I loved that line and would like to memorize it! Asking someone to watch the DVD and write out the lines of the script is too much, but does anyone remember the name of the watch that he pawned? It has been eating at me!

Louis Winthorpe III: Fifty bucks? No, no, no. This is a Rouchefoucauld. The thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is *the* sports watch of the '80s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty five dollars retail! Pawnbroker: You got a receipt? Louis Winthorpe III: Look, it tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad. Pawnbroker: In Philadelphia, it's worth *50* bucks. Louis Winthorpe III: Just give me the money. Louis Winthorpe III: [looking in display case] How much for the gun? According to IMDB anyway, Funny movie!

Thank you for the good morning laugh!!!! I had not heard that in ages and it sounded just as good reading it.
Now I suppose there is no Rouchefoucauld for real. In that case, just what WAS the watch in the movie?! |
