All 16610 cases were made from 904L SS,not a fan of ceramic bezel inserts, my aluminium insert on my 16600 SD has had a hard working tool watch life ,yet in 22 years of wearing changed one insert cost then just £30.As for the boxes well its just a packaging box and not the best box in the watch world.

I like your concept. Not sure what mine would be. What I do know, I added the BB58 because it has style elements I prefer over my 14060M.
If a made a "one" watch, it would likely be a Sub with a holes case 5-digit size lugs, a modern bracelet, 1680 dial and mil-Sub bezel insert that was lumed like a Pelagos. |

Welcome to the forum
Personally I prefer the old boxes. The new ones take up way too much space and besides, the old one just look cooler |

Oh we're frankensteining watches now, okay...
The perfect Rolex in my opinion. 1. Pink gold or platinum 2. Daytona 6263 body, acrylic bezel that Rolex then asked to make me a set of custom ceramic markers for. 3. Could be the "exotic dial", could be the reverse panda, both with blue chrono hand. platinum would have blue radial markers. Pink Gold would just have normal faded black. 4. Cartier signed and stamped on case back and Khanjar stamp on lug. Letter from Archives confirming its provenance. 5. Letter from the Sultanate of Oman declaring its purpose as a gift to Paul Newman. 6. Letter from Hans Wilsdorf thanking Paul Newman for his friendship and patronage with this watch. That's right it was written on his death bed in 1960 when Paul Newman was 35 years old. 7. Letter from Rolex asking to purchase this watch should it become available. 8. Letter from Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Ellen, Jay Z asking to purchase this watch. 9. A photograph of Paul Newman then gifting this watch to my family along with photographs of himself wearing this watch 10. A letter from Paul Newman explaining why he gifted the watch. 11. Jubilee and day date bracelet variations that Rolex decided to gift me for allowing them to present this watch at their anniversary events. 12. A letter from Rolex explaining that they would like to gift me a one off matching version of the same watch but with rainbow bezel, panda meteorite dial, rainbow hour markers, minute repeater, tourbillon on 6, diamond set bracelet with glidelock but no diamond on the lugs, maybe a Sapphire on Start/stop pusher, Ruby on Reset pusher. this is to maintain 10mm thickness. If AP can do 37mm tourbillon in 8mm, i think an extra 2mm for chronograph is reasonable. Oh i need it to be waterproof too. Box and papers. Thanks Rolex. 13. Serial number to be 0A and 00, signifying their one of one prototype nature. 14. Invitations to quarterly special Rolex events where they would display the watch and I would present their importance in horology around the world. 15. Double Boxed by Cartier and Rolex. |

That 4 liner 14060 on a solid end link bracelet and glide lock clasp is one of my favorite submariners.

There are many things about this watch that alienate the hardcore four/five digit fan. To me it's perfect just the way it is.

Platinum and dates are very important underwater. You can note the date you were eaten by an apex predator because of the shiny fishing lure on your wrist.

Now that“s interesting, thanks! Never seen a Rolex box from the 1960s before! Yes, pretty basic. I was somehow expecting boxes from that decade to be "plushier" and fancier! BTW, beautiful old Oysterdate...

People may says it’s blasphemy, but I actually prefer a 5512 with LumiNova maxi-plot service dial (as opposed to the original dial)
You get all the vintage case charm, and a modern matte dial (sans WG surround) with functional lume. |
