Pam 112 - opinions on authentic or not?
Hoping you all can assist with this one I took in on a trade, naked watch. Would not register on the Panerai website or on enquirus, which can happen, but is not overly common I think. At first I thought it looked OK for a PAM00112. The incabloc type is correct, regulator screw is OK. Seller was reputable. After it didn't register, I got out a better loupe and have some doubts.
My main concerns - on other real examples I've seen, the jewel hole bevels are polished and bridge plate bevels are polished. On this one, they are rough machined. The teeth of the winding gears are also not polished, they are brushed, just at a different angle than the radial brushing on the gears. OFFICINE PANERAI is pained on the bridge plate, not engraved. What do you guys think? Superfake or real? ![]() ![]() The production number is either bead blasted or lightly lasered on, not engraved - not sure what is normal for a 2010 PAM112? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure if relevant, but the band is more matte colored than I am used to, is about 1/2mm loose between the lugs. The strapscrews have buggered heads and one won't screw in all the way. Threads are rounded over line they may be a slight mismatch thread for the lug threads. It came with a deployant and deployant style rubber. Pics here: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Not sure, but something looks off on the dial. The number 3 doesn’t look right. And if the strap screws aren’t going in all the way, that’s odd and would lead be to believe the case thread is not accurate. If it were me I would request a refund and return and play it safe all over again.

Fake. Gen Panerai never has logo painted on that movement. Gear teeth never brushed...etc

I hope you're able to get your money refunded and send it back to the seller. Keep us posted, as you did say they were willing to work with you.

I think there is 80% chance that the watch is fake, by looking at the photos.

I’m sitting here comparing my Gen 2008 J series 112 and having a hard
Time telling… the 3 looks correct … my movement doesn’t have polished bezels. The canon pin looks good, it’s just really hard to tell. The sapphire glass thickness in the back is raised slightly which to me is a good sign. If this is a Replica it’s a really good one! |

The painted on movement log and too lightly applied series production number and the fact the serial number does not register at panerai as being a pam00112 are what has me the most spooked. Plus there are a number of subtle things that don't add up in finish quality.
Incorrect lug threads are also a giveaway. It's a really convincing fake. Would fool 99% of people I think, I did this as a f2f deal and could not readily tell it was not genuine without later close scrutiny. Scary how convincing these have become. |

I have a 112 and as you say there are a few things off with yours. That painted logo on the movement is just not right at all. Best option is to call Panerai concierge and discuss it with them, they have been super helpful with me in the past confirming serial numbers etc

Oh and the strap is definitely fake and I’m 99.9% sure the deployment probably is as well.

As a follow up, seller agreed to reverse the deal and he decided to send the 112 to Panerai for authentication. The shop he got it from in Montreal is standing by it being a real panerai and doesn't know why it's not registering on the Pam registry site. The previous owner and I both agree it's unsellable without authentication at this point.
In any event, I got my dj back. In the end, I just bought a nice pam510 with box and papers and am loving the watch. I think it's likely a better pick than a 112 anyhow. |

Thanks for the update. Did you buy the 510 from a Panerai ad? I have bought a few Panerai from Chateau D’Ivoire

No, private sale from the original owner.
CD seems to be an AD, but they seem to have minimal inventory. |
