Vintage Day Date Dial Question
My father in Law has a YG Day Date that he aquired in 1968. The dial does not have "Swiss", "Swiss Made", "T Swiss T", etc. at the 6 O'clock position. What does this mean? Maybe the dial is an aftermarket replacement dial.

Today I took this watch to a watchmaker who confirmed that the dial has been refinished. He explained that dial shops do not usually reproduce the "Swiss" designation either due to the technical difficulty of reproducing the small lettering or the legal issues of indicating "Swiss Made" outside of Switzerland. He opened the case and examined the movement and proclaimed that the movement is in great shape, but the case needs repair or replacement. Apparently the lug holes in the 18K gold have become elongated after so many years of wear. The case appears to have been repaired once before for this condition. This is a model 1803 with the 1556 movement. Looks pretty nice after 40 years of use:
