1978 Rolex 1680 Submariner Date MK 1 With Box and RSC Service Card Cream Patina

For sale is an excellent condition 40mm stainless steel Rolex Submariner Date “Mk 1”. The 1680 is a 5.2 million serial, circa 1978, and is accompanied by an inner box, a 2012 RSC service card, and a COSC hang tag.

The Submariner features a brushed steel case, which is accent by an unidirectional steel divers bezel that is set with a black Rolex service bezel insert. The Rolex is mounted on a 93150 Oyster bracelet, which contains 12 full size links, and will comfortably fit a wrist in excess of 7.6 inches. The 93150 Oyster bracelet was most likled fitted during the 2012 Rolex service, as it is stamped with a “PJ12” clasp code, which corresponds with a production date of December 2008. The Submariner features its original “MK1” matte black dial with tritum hour markers, polished white gold tritium coated hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock. The tritium hour markers and hands have acquired an even light cream colored patina, while the 1680 still retains its original silver date wheel. The movement used in the 1680 is the Rolex Caliber 1570.

The case on the 1680 has been preserved well and contains even and fairly thick lugs, while the bezel ring remains crisp. The 93150 Oyster bracelets appear unpolished, and contains minimal stretch, remaining in approximately 90% plus condition. The dial and hands are free of any damage or imperfections, while the acrylic crystal contains some faint surface level scuffs. Overall the 1680 is in excellent vintage condition, and is a nice example of a MK1 1680.
