Rolex Datejust 36 Not Running properly 16233

Happy New Year

Hope everybody is okay, my grandfather datejust two-tone 36 16233 , he purchase it back it hong kong during the mid to late 90's, he gave it to me last year 2022 on my birthday,it was working fine and well as normal (use 2x to 4x month)

However, today the hand is not moving right, during my obeservation it stops every 20 to 30 mins, even 10 mins or less, therefore i have to shake it agian in order to move and ofcourse wind it to have the accurate time.

So what do you think is the problem and if its serious what to do?

Thanks so much

It likely needs a service. Go to an AD or independent. Just make sure nothing gets replaced from dial/hands/... if you want to keep it as is.

Mechanical watches require servicing every 5-10 years. If parts are badly worn or damaged, they will need to be replaced during the service.
