Good evening, I am looking for opinions and answers. I recently found what I believe is a 50s-60s Oyster Perpetual. It was found unfortunately, going through a family members belongings that had to be placed in assisted living. I have no clue about Rolex. Don’t curse me, I’m a Garmin Watch guy (they fit my lifestyle). With that being said, the bracelet is missing a pin at the last link before it attaches to the end link between the case studs. The pins appear to be fixed. The bracelet is a 7206/58. Also the acrylic face is chipped in one corner.I would like to restore the watch to a wearable point. I’m not sure where I should look to find parts or possibly whom to have perform the work. If the cost to fix it is very expensive, I would also be open to selling as is. I just don’t know enough about it to make a educated decision.

The best thing to do first is post clear and precise pictures of all angles so that the experts on here can evaluate the watch.

As Matt has mentioned your post needs photos. If you are genuinely looking to sell then I’m guessing you are in the wrong section. Maybe take your watch to a good independent for them to evaluate the work needed and costs moving forward

OP, it may behoove you to spend the money to have the watch fully serviced because if you are planning on selling it, a running watch that keeps good time which is wearable will bring you quite a bit more money than one that isnt.

With 20mm lugs, is it a 1018? We need to know what you have, and we really need better photos to be able to judge condition.

OP, if you really want some help from the forum, it will benefit you to take and post good photos from all angles. Make sure the photos are in focus, in decent lighting, and show sufficient detail.

Also, get the endlinks removed and post photos of the numbers between the lugs. Servicing and repairing the bracelet will probably cost you on the order of $1k or more. If you are considering selling it, your best bet is to share lots of good photos and information (e.g. diameter of the case excluding the crown) so a collector will be interested in the project. For example, based on those photos, I can't tell if the dial is stained/damaged, or if the damage is only on the crystal (e.g. between the 1 and 2 o'clock markers). For me, the first would be a total dealbreaker, but the crystal is expendable.

This a model 1018, quote for total refurbish is around 1200. I’m thinking of replacing the bracelet with a leather one anyhow. So it’s looking like around 300 to replace the crystal which is cracked on the corner but does not continue into the case. Not really looking to sell but was just interested in resale value. Watch keeps perfect time probably hasn’t been wound in a couple decades but fired right up. I gave it about 40 rotations of the crown and it has been almost exact second for second to my digital watch for about 48 hours.

The 1018 is a great reference. We still can't say much without good photos because the value depends a lot on condition. So you may need to research prices for yourself.

I'm not sure what $1200 includes, but it sounds like a lot. And $300 for the crystal is very high. My watchmaker would service that and replace the crystal for about $500-$600.

Repairing and restoring the bracelet would be about $600 by Rolliworks.

Nice 1018. When replacing that crystal try to get the domed acrylic rather than the newer flat/angled crystals. I have a couple of 1018s and the newer crystal profile doesn't suit the watch, sharp angles where smooth rounding is appropriate. Great strap watch too if you can't be bothered to source a new bracelet, they're shockingly expensive these days.
