Waiting on my 1st Rolex Sub to arrive
Howdy from the the Rolling plains of Texas. No, I am nowhere near the horrific fire in the Canadian area of the panhandle...but this is Texas and 70% of the state has to deal with wildfires from time to time.
for those who haven't seen... Anyway I have been on a watch journey of some kind since I got my first wrist watch when I was like 6 in 1986, it had a Q where the 12 was...want to say it was a squatch, but not certain. I wore it for about 8 years, then got an Ironman digital watch in high school. In college I wore a Green Fossil and a blue relic watch. Up to this point everything had been quartz. After I got a job I wanted a rolex blue and gold sub ref 16613 I believe, but it wasn't happening. So I started my journey into Automatics below: |

I had 2 more squales as well....Then sold everything but my light blue and dark blue squale and upgraded to Omega last fall...Bought me 4 seamaster pros. Paid retail for a couple got a great deal on the ceramic and titanium one.
Got the summer blue and have loved it so much I sold the traditional blue SMP along with the ceramic case one and used that money to buy me a 124060 that I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of tomorrow. Living on the rolling plains there is nowhere convenient to buy a Rolex or Omega so I have been using well established dealers for my buying. It will be here tomorrow. When I told my 88 year old Uncle (who owns at least 3 rolexes I am aware of, 2 Subs and a Daytona) that I was finally getting around to buying me a Rolex, he congratulated me on finally getting around to a real watch. He also sent the below to me as a gift this morning. Anyway after long time lurking and readind and researching, I am excited to bight the bullet and get me a sub. When it came down to it, the black no date won out over the flashier gold and blue date sub. I wear nice watches for myself, I don't need any of the gentlemen at the local dairy queen for breakfast asking me if the cattle are impressed by my rolex Anyway, looking forward to getting it and thanks for all the info on the board..... |

I sold off everything but 2 of my squales and last fall purchased 4 omega seamasters. I have liked them, but wear the green and the summer blue SMPs primarily. So I sold off the ceramic model and the traditional blue model and ordered a 124060 that should arrive tomorrow. Living where I live there are no convenient watch dealers of any kind so it's all by order.
My 86 year old Uncle congratulated me on finally buying my Rolex and sent me a baselworld key chain as congratulations. When it came down to it, I felt the blue gold date version was too flashy and went with the no date sub. Last thing I need is the older gentlemen at dairy queen asking me if the cows like my rolex or not.... Anyway, been a long time lurking on here, thanks for all the info and examples over the years! |

arrived this morning from mdgrwl
I like the ceramic over the metal bezel. She's certainly different/smaller than my smps. Wouldn't say better. But She's beaut. |
