Interesting damage to lug holes on modern Datejust
I came across this very recent post on Reddit. It looks like somehow, a lug hole on a Rolex Datejust got severely damaged, to the extent where it caused the bottom surface of the lug to bulge outward
https://www.reddit.com/r/rolex/comme...on_2020_dj_41/ This person also has no idea how it happened, which is the concerning part. OEM springbar and seems like a regular 904L case. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is it really possible that pressure on the springbar with the bracelet attached can cause this much damage to the lug hole? Really curious to hear what TRF community thinks about this one. Also attached those same pictures here as well. |

Looks like the watch might have taken a very strong blunt force hit from the top between the bracelet and lug. There's probably more to the story if this was in an accident or something weird. Also could happen if placed in a vise and cranked up to the point where the spring bar distorted the case. I'd expect the spring bar to fail before damaging the case like that.

Just put your watch by the bedside next time you’re in Vegas.

It looks like from the scratches to the rear of the bracelet, that the bracelet has been taken off at some point.
If I had to guess, the watch has taken a knock whilst fitted with a different strap. |

Some amateur tried to pry the spring bar out. Some times Rolex spring bars do lock up.

Looks like it’s taken a fairly big hit for that to happen
