Subdued DNA of 226570 Exp2's

So for years I've been struggling with which model to get....I've tried on so many models and have not had one that jumps out to me that says this is it......

With our 30th being later this year....the wife & I will be exchanging nice gifts and she wants me to get a Rolex, she'll have it engraved, etc...etc.....

We went to the AD together and I asked for the 124060 (yes, know it might take months, years, but I can wait)....I've never seen this model and think the 126610 is too blingy....too be honest, I think I like the Exp1 (224270) more but think it is blingy as well....

Following what others have said about the 5 digits...the AD had several CPO models ...14060...16600 (which was amazed how much I liked it)....loved the size..but felt those were blingy as well....

I've worn the new Polar Exp2 several times ....and there is something about that model that makes me come back to it....love the dial....does not feel huge on my wirst....and it's not blingy....perhaps it is because there is no exposed polished gold on the dial.....so here is my main question....

is the black dial Exp2 as flashy like the 5 digit subs....I've never seen an exhibition model to try on....my though process is the black dial will have a lower wrist presence vs the Polar when wearing it in public, but maybe I'm just over-thinking this entire process....

I have the Polar and would strongly suggest you give it a second thought. The Exp II is the least “Rolex looking” watch in many ways and is one of the IYKYK Rolexes. Other than the Daytona, Rolex isn’t really known for a lot of white dials, so it doesn’t really attract attention.

I am curious — you find the sub not blingy, but they sub date and the Exp I blingy? Just an interesting perspective.

I can see from your signature you have a BB Pro. If you like that, I expect you’ll love the black 226570 - it’s a (much!) slimmer, more comfortable, better made, more expensive feeling watch but is similar.

Yes, there is exposed white gold on the hands unlike the polar but I don’t find that showy at all. Similarly, I found the ceramic bezel on the sub made it very “obvious” on the wrist but the watch still seemed a bit plain.

Having had the Exp II for 18 months, I still love it - the pop of orange still makes me smile, I travel a lot so use the gmt function most months and it’s subtle enough, I’ve been happy to wear it anywhere without worrying about it.

I really loved my Polar E2 but the thing I really hated was the steel bezel - a real scratch magnet. If they would just put a ceramic bezel on this watch it would be perfection.

To really mess you up... Take a look at the 42mm Titanium YachtMaster.

The black does fly under the radar. I traded my black 216570 for a GMTII years ago and eventually regretted it as the GMT was just too small for my wrist. Now I have a 226570 polar and loving it. Both variety have to be seem in person to fully appreciate- the dials are mesmerizing.

yes have found the subs blingy (and plain), but asked for the no date as it is considered the icon...the original sub variant...I really liked the Exp1 as it was very thin and looked perfect on my wrist compared to the 126610...

I've been struggling with the BBP thickness whenever I wear it....love my Speedy....I wear my BBP when I travel, but had someone recently say..."man that is a huge block of steel on your arm..you can hurt somebody with that"...lol

I'll see where I can check out the Exp2 black dial....
