Is there still any love for the ROO 44s?

Thinking of adding a 44mm to the collection. With the new 43s being so much better ergonomically, I wonder if anyone still wears or buys the older 44s. Some good deals and cool color combos to be had. Interested in thoughts from fellow collectors.

Still wear my two. Pretty much everyday as well. Much prefer the 44 dial layout and I have all strap colours which don’t really take that much time to swap around. So I have not been able to justify the cost of swap to RG43 which is a bit more comfy and has quick strap change. No Pt43 option either as well so to go from Pt to steel/taupe whilst it has a great dial does not work for my man maths !

Most definitely. Moved on from my 43 in favor of my 44.

Awesome watch! This is exactly what I'm talking about, a really cool color/material combo that just does not exist in 43mm.

Had 4 at one time but down to just the Pt. Still love it and was always a best value in AP especially when they debuted at over $100k retail.

Absolutely! I'm currently wearing my Carbon Novelty 44 after enjoying my RG 43 for a couple of months. Still a great piece, even when compared directly to the 43.

I prefer the dial layout over the 43.

If you can handle the size it is the best value ROO out here in any configuration...

They are definitely good value. Rose gold and some ceramic ones are going for less than the 43s in steel and titanium. And for some reason, after having worn both, I prefer the dial layout and even the proportions of the 44s.

Because of the 43s

The secondary pricing on 44s has dropped dramatically. U can get a great deal

I am biased but still think the ROO 44 Summer Edition is a beautiful watch, as is the classic RG44. I looked at the 43 when it was first issued but somehow the dial just didn't work for me.

Love my full ceramic black (26405CE) after all these years looks like new. With other black ceramic at crazy premiums this one is great bargain

That’s one of the best 44s, imho.
Please share a wrist shot if you get a chance.

Maybe not the clearest one to appreciate all the details and ceramic finishing. Only downside is that it is very difficult to find appropriate alternative strap. Have put it on lighter blue rubber AP one to match small blue hands but is bit too “loud”

Love this. A buddy of mine has the same. I really hope they’d bring back an offshore in black ceramic.

I have to admit this thread surprised me. I expected to see lots of wrist shots of watches that are too big for the wrist, but everyone is pulling the 44mm off well. Given that many people struggle to even wear a 42mm offshore it did throw me off a bit. Is the 44mm proportioned in a way that it doesn't wear as large as you would think? Or maybe you just have bigger wrists and can accommodate the larger watch.

You want too large? Here you go:

Actually, looking at it from a reasonable distance, it's just a little bit too large for me, while I think the 42mm is perfectly fine. I'm still thinking about the black ceramic shown earlier in the thread, or the Schumacher LE.

Schumi is nice in certain metals for sure! I had the rose gold Barrichello 2 which was an amazing and very underrated watch with the partial skeleton dial. I just didn't wear it enough and the pushers stuck out too much unfortunately so I moved on from it.

How does the new 43mm ROO wear compared to the 44mm? I had two 44s many years ago and found them too big for my liking (especially RG version). I have 7in flat wrist and thinking of purchasing the taupe one.

The 43 mm case is slightly curved. It follow your wrist rather than being a flat watch like the 44. So makes significant difference. All in all is more compact.

For me the 43 mm is the perfection. Taupe or titanium grey

Thank you, Uros, this is an excellent picture showcasing this black beauty!
Yes, I can imagine it’s challenging to find alternative strap colors to work with this, but I love the black on black aesthetic.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. The new strap system is also very handy.

Still think it looks ok! if you zoomed out of did a mirror shot, would look fine.
