Does anyone know what would cause the, 'crown' needing to be replaced, as part of a normal service?

Could be the internal teeth are worn, or the outside of the crown is marked up in some way.

I’m not sure … do they replace the crown on a full service just because?

Reasons I require crowns to be replaced during service in order from most common to least:

1. The crown is "required" by Rolex to be upgraded to monoloc. I suspect a number of ADs do not adhere to this guideline. I will often attempt to locate a secondary, more easy to grok reason to require replacement.

2. There are dents which may impact water resistance.

3. The crown emblem is moderately or heavily compromised.

3. The ridges are worn down.

4. The threads are compromised.

5. The crown is absent.
