Help with this 5127r

Hey PP fans!

Wondering if any of you might be willing to provide input/opinions on a Patek that I'm busy trying to learn about. I've attached a few pictures (just picked up the watch this morning) and have a couple of concerns.

First, this doesn't seem like the factory strap...but the buckle is clearly PP branded. But no deployant clasp on this watch? Is that how they came new? I don't know my Calatravas well enough to know this distinction.

Also, though the watch is not beat up by any means, it does show some wear (I'm guessing simply because the 18k gold is soft). How big an issue is that? Watch has never been polished or serviced.

When cleaned up, will this look more "rose?" I was surprised to see that the 5127r doesn't look all that distinct from yellow gold. Without a 5127j to compare it to, I don't know. Anybody have both or have held both for comparison?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide...greatly appreciated!

CC

p.s. This timepiece was bought in 2006 and has the 315 movement...if that helps.

I really like that model, great dress watch. Not an original strap.

I'd send that into Patek for a service and strap and wear it often.

And a picture of the crown and crown guards

This shows the swirls better, with a clear view of the crown guards and crown.

Thoughts?

Thank you. It's running perfectly, but I agree...a trip to Patek for a service and spa treatment, plus a new strap and it's a beauty.

What Patek strap am I looking for? Or should I just have it replaced as part of that service?

Help with this 5127r

I *think* they came with both brown and black. I'm sure the service center or AD could find you the right one.

I think the brown strap looks nice. Personal preference either way

Ohhh...that's a nice strap. I'll take it to the AD and have them send it in I think. Been so Rolex-focused that I'm only now seeing how cool these Pateks are!

Thank you!

That's rough. Did the previous owner perhaps work as a lumberjack or a motorcycle repairman?

In any case, it will come back perfect after a well deserved service trip to Patek.

The bright light of the lightbox makes it look a little worse than it is but it's definitely been worn!

I am quite sure the 5127 did come on that tang buckle. I also prefer a tang buckle for a basic Calatrava like the 5127, no need to spend extra on a deployant clasp in my view.

I wouldn't worry much about those swirls as you can choose to have them polished or not during service. I'd prob got for a refresh, but there'll be new swirls once you wear it...

This one used to be mine.
A beautiful watch.
The 5127R is imo, one of the best Calatrava's ever made.
