On the wheels curb rash I use a dremel and a sanding wheel initially and then move to a polishing wheel with Simichrome. The rash on your wheel will take forever with a cloth. With a dremel you will be done in a jiffy.

That scratch will disappear just using sandpaper, don't waste your money on Cape Cod.

Maybe you could just dig the scratch out with the tip of a screwdriver.

I know that I will get some flame on this but I have an incoming set of zagg aka invishield set of protective skins for my two week old DJ, just like yours.
Set will include case sides and will cover all the clasp to include the brushed surfaces. |

My DJ was two weeks old back when I started this thread and I have sold it now. In my opinion, don't apply those invisible things on your watch... Just be careful and you will get a knick here and there but don't put that stuff on. :)

Same watch with Blue dial. AD called and said they had one and I bought and sold mine. Lost about $1,500 and couldn’t be happier. I might sell my Oyster and go back to a Jubilee. Not sure what it’s worth though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm confused. So you have fluted blue dial on oyster bracelet now, and want it in Jubilee?

You're freaking kidding me. I just read through all 6 pages of this to find out you sold the watch? OMG. Oh well, come back when you scratch/ding your new one. BTW, your car may 'appear" showroom ready but I can tell you with those Canadian pot holed roads I will bet you have plenty of worn out suspension parts.

Hope this seems on topic (new so please tell me if I should search deeper into the archive for a more relevant thread).
My 2005 D series Kermit has appreciated far more than I ever expected when I started wearing her daily, so she has a few battle scars now. I've got a tonne (apologies to engineers, pedants and all those who distinguish between imperial and metric - but I'm a confused 50 something Scotsman that is non technical by background - although I'm not an artist) of questions and hoped some older lags could point me to individual forums where either the topic has been discussed or some forum opinion already exists? 1. First topic relates to the scratch theme: the Kermit bezel has picked up two quite distinct scratches (from consistent use). So as I don't want to be spoken about as a "pussy Grandad" (loved that) I'm looking to solicit opinions on whether I should replace the bezel or not. 2. On a similar theme I have not had the watch serviced - although it's one of a few eclectic watches it gets worn frequently and kept wound, to the point I am happy with it's time keeping. Is there a rule of thumb on servicing - any forums discussing the merits of Rolex servicing, recommended intervals, 2a. If serviced by Rolex would I be locked into bezel repair - do they insist on replacing parts or does the customer have choice - I've heard (sorry to be ill informed about something I do genuinely enjoy) that the Kermit bezel is in very short supply - therefore V expensive. 2b. Given how much Kermits seem to be making £13-16K in the UK versus my £2,650 purchase price I am mindful the grandkids might prefer to divest themselves rather than hang on to Gradad's old tat. Is a replacement bezel going to increase its appeal or is it more important to keep the case Seriel and bezel original than make it 'purty'? 2c. Can anyone advise on availability and price of replacement bezel or if Rolex 'repair' originals? I am after all a Scot, so don't want to blush too hard when the dealer asks for more than I'm willing to pay to prettify my watch. 2.d is there a consensus on when a daily wearer becomes too valuable to keep wearing? I love the Kermit (little bit of background is that although I'm not technical my route to the Subs came when I was in the management team with Stolt Comex so feel a strong connection with the watch). Apologies again for the long post - any direction to appropriate threads would be very much appreciated. I've spent days pouring over the resource which has so many interesting corners. In fact I've found myself in a few Cul de Sacs I had no idea I was interested in. Great forum. Neil |
