My mistake, the thread seemed to of gone off at that tangent.

I wouldn't entertain a bundle, you are obviously a great client for the AD buying multiple pieces and they have rung you.

Is this an enamel dial watch, something only 1 or perhaps 10 at most of them being produced? Pics???? Didn't see anything about a truly special one-off Patek piece, did i miss reading it within this thread? Or is this just a normal production piece?

Well my dealer considers the 5740 perpetual nautilus as a special piece! He’s probably looking at the re sell value...

I would dump this AD. Some dealers are really crazy. Just spend another 70K. Really. Do they just think money grows on trees?

Most of us with a 5740 have spent a lot more money at an AD to get it. Getting that call means to me your AD is serious about further developing the relationship with you. Given the state of the market, and if you really want a 5740, you won’t find a better deal imo.

Ask for a 5212, 5172, 5524, whatever watch(es)you like and pay/pickup up the watches together.

Hmmm, so it's about the money ??

Let them know you want something truly special, such as a one-off enamel dials and not just a normal production piece. You really should find out if the AD truly has your best interest in mind, or if it all just about....

"Further developing the relationship with you". Emphasis on relationship. So making someone buy something else to get what he actually wants constitutes developing the relationship? Sounds like a jerk off move to me. This logic will never make any sense at all to me, completely one sided.

I would take this advice all day.

@OP: only do the deal if you can get them at the same time. Otherwise you’re left with your D in your hand as the AD can backpeddle. We have seen that before

Also if you can get a 5524R instead then you can flip that for a small 10K loss. You’d have paid 10K premium on a 5740 but you would be standing to make 100K if you flip that. Ultimately your wife gets her watch and you can pocket 100K.
