Watch Appraisal -Caseback

Hello - new member here! Been an enthusiast for a while and was able to get a 214270 from a great member here about a month ago. My first Rolex and love it.

I had a question - is it normal /expected for an appraiser to open the caseback of watch for verification and appraisal? I have the boxes and papers. Not sure if I want the watch opened. Not sure of the protocol.

Thanks in advance!
