Can anyone help identify this rolex watch model year

Hi I’m looking for a ladies datejust for my wife she’s fallen in love with a 26mm ladies datejust

The seller doesn’t have a model number as it’s a used antique jewellery store it just comes with a box but no papers.

Can anyone help me identify a mode number and weather this is an aftermarket bezel or not

I know it’s plexi glass and not sapphire crystal

Pics attached

Stay away.
Many nicer ones to be found.
Not sure about that dial.
Bezel definitely aftermarket. Not made by Rolex for that SS reference.

Thanks she’s not keen on the bi metals but likes the bezel!

Everything has a price I guess? He’s asking for £2k and I’ve had a look on Chrono24 and eBay and they seem to be selling for between 2 and 3k?

My budget isn’t huge I had about £2k in mind and a couple of years ago would have a pic of the bunch but prices seem to be through the roof at the moment and the ladies models don’t seem immune

Can you ask the merchant to open the back, and take pictures of the works and the inside of case back? If he refuses, walk away.

Removing the bracelet should reveal engraving on the case between the lugs. On one side should be the model ID and the other the serial number. Those will allow you to know what model it is and when it was made. As far as confirmation that it is a real Rolex, removing the back and examining the movement goes a long ways in helping to validate the watch. The bezel is very likely aftermarket. Many people think their watches are better with diamonds. I feel that it can make them look junky; I especially don't like diamonds on a stainless steel watch. Kind of like putting an elevator in an outhouse. Just not meant to go together.

Thanks for all your responses guys I will certainly be investigating as suggested above

If all checks out as genuine and with the Aftermarket bezel any idea of value or what they would go for?

Regardless of the bezel it seems in tidy condition with relatively clear face and mild stretch to bracelet?

I will be looking at alternatives but as my wife has grown an attachment to it I will have to consider it but don’t really want to pay silly money on it.

Also the genuine bezels do seem to be available online at reasonable prices if it is decided to restore back to a more traditional look

That dial doesn't look right. I'd have the seller remove the bracelet to expose the serial # and reference #. Removing the caseback to see the movement would help as well.

For sure that's not the original dial. The case is way over polished (the lugs are thin and round) and the bracelet is tired.

I know this is within your budget, but keep saving and buy a nicer, and original, example later. My feeling is you are throwing good money at a frankenwatch that will never be worth what you paid, nor will it have any trade in value.

My recommendation would be to try to find a stock Rolex instead of one with aftermarket parts. I realize that pricing is driving you decision making however less expensive watches purchased ignoring their faults can really be just throwing away good money. If this has no papers, aftermarket bezel and dial then it really isn't doesn't have great value as a Rolex. I'd move on to a better candidate.

Simple remove band look between the lugs. Serial number will tell yr. and model number will tell if it’s a date or date just.

Does not look like a 26mm Datejust, but a 24mm Date.

If she likes it, get it; it's cheap enough.

Nobody is looking for pristine, original, never touched ladies models. All of the Country Club set will only look at the diamonds and nod their heads approvingly.

Be careful these watches are often highly altered. The bezel is aftermarket the dial is far newer the watch a 6917 likely. The band may look so tight because they often replace these with aftermarket parts also, if so nor much of the watch is rolex
