Question about the markers on this dial

Can anyone provide some feedback on the markers on this 1675 dial? It almost looks like the markers have been "flattened" or "shaved" flat. Especially the round markers. Does this look right?

(I am not an expert, solely the 1st/original owner of 1978 GMT, cpl original incl. insert)
Imo that watch was brushed up on the inside.
The indicators show a clear repaint; the markers also show a repaint imo ???.
It also could be that after repaint the indicators were lumpy and were sanded down/flat.....
Furthermore the hands from this plus 1970 GMT seem to have have less corrosion as generally found indicating that they may also have been polished ???.
Enclosed a picture of my 1978 1675 GMT serial nr 5.3XX.XXX

The tops of the round markers start to go brown with age – the common fix is to scrape off the discoloured top, hence the “flat” bits

One of the causes is from careless watchmakers removing the movement and doing a cursory examination and/or a quick repair by placing the watch dial side down on their work bench. This is most common on the older watches where the lume was much thicker.

Another possible cause for the flattened markers is from scraping discoloration off the markers as others have mentioned.

As far as this example goes, I would only be guessing on what exactly caused the marker issues on this watch, but I do not believe the dial has been refinished as another member mentioned. The hands have definitely been refinished.

No indeed.

Doesn’t really matter how or why it was done, but the lume plots have been damaged and not a watch you’d want to buy.
