I had purchased this piece, used, several years back. When it arrived I noticed that the bezel was dented at 8 o’clock as if someone dropped it. When I wore it all my eyes would see was the dent and it drove me crazy. I recently had it sent to Rolex for repair and cleaning. Just received it back yesterday. Love it!

I also like the other dials this reference comes in, maybe I’ll wait to see what comes up. But I do love how sporty this specific dial is.

I think by now the OP finally moved ahead with the upgrade, but just in case.......

I had a 116520 briefly a few years ago and sold it as felt that it was too much $$ for a steel watch; that was before the craziness with the prices on GMT's, Daytonas and most popular Rolex sport watches. Now the prices on the steel Daytonas had reached a level where you can actually buy a used white gold 116509 for a little more than a steel 116520 / 116500 version. To me gold will always be more than steel, so if you can sell your DJ and your BLNR for a good price would suggest you do the upgrade.

There are many lovely dials on the WG Daytona which have already been shown above, my favorite is the Panda dial, which I had installed on my 116520. I would say to focus on finding a used 116509 in good physical conditions that fits your budget even if the dial is not your favorite one as you can swap the dial later.

If ever buy another Daytona the 116509 would be it so think the OP is in the right track!
