Rolex and Apple Watch Rotation???
My daily wearer is an Explorer II 16570. It's tough, classy, in great shape, and is accurate to about a second a day.
My wife - whom I love very much - just bought me an Apple Watch. I understand why: I'm active, like gadgets, and enjoy being connected. When I saw how excited she was to give it to me, I had no thought about saying "Uh...what?" So if any of you are in the same situation, how do you make room for both your Rolex and your Apple Watch in your life? If my Rolex were more of a dress or "special occasions" watch it would be easier, but my 16570 is a true part of me. Anyone found a balance that works for you? |

I wear my AW5 for pretty much all fitness where I'm not on my bike, plus for work travel as the wrist notifications that I normally detest are very handy for keeping in touch with rapid fire calls and messages (I work for NHL in loud environments). This plus my family is on iphones while I'm on Android most of the time...travelling with AW & iphone is just simpler.

When working out and when wearing something more than 300 on the wrist is a bad idea. Say inside the jungle gym and not just observing outside.

I'm not a fan of wearable technology, but I'm sure some could find a use for both. I remember not too long ago on here there were many posting about Apple being the number 1 "watch" brand and Rolex was dead blah blah blah. That didn't work out too well

I cringe when I see someone wearing those. It reminds me of the modern day version of the calculator watch. NO JUST NO!!!

I've got a Garmin which I wear when I swim because if tracks the laps and distance. I also wear a Fitbit Flex 2 on my dominant wrist all the time. It also tracks total swim distance, walking and sleep. It looks like a bracelet pretty much and not like a wrist computer. I just can't see an Apple watch on my wrist at any time in the future. And it does have the shape of the old calculator watches.

I prefer wearing state of the art MECHANICAL items on my wrist i.e. a WATCH not a computer. Rant finished.

Yes I do wear it outside my exercise hours. It’s a very stylish watch, amazingly comfortable and can go so well with everything. Also I wear it mainly during my photoshoots where my phone is usually away of me. Also the watch can take knocks and bangs without me feeling pain in the chest :)

As 904VT alluded, about 100 Apple watches sold for every one Rolex. They're not a fad.
I wear both. Apple Watch for easy glanceable notifications, life saving alerts for AFIB, automatic emergency dialing if I fall, navigation taps, unlocking my laptop automatically dozens of times per day, music controls, 1,000 other things every day. If I had to give it up, the annoyance factor would be a real issue, like going back to three VHF tv channels. Rolex on the other wrist, because I like it and admire the craftsmanship. A Longvadon band with deployment clasp helps. |

The apple can be a good one if you don’t want to wear something expensive. It does the same thing and I think they look good on certain straps.
There’s definitely a place for them. If only to wear doing the gardening or down the gym, and seeing as your wife has bought it why not give it a chance. |

Wasn't there a thread a while back about people wearing both a Rolex AND an Apple watch at the same time? We do have two wrists.

By definition they both are. One measures time exclusively. The other has a myriad of useful technological applications in addition to being synced to an atomic clock. |

I would not buy an apple watch.
But if my spouse bought me one, I would suck it up and wear it around the house to make her happy. Priorities.

I tried wearing both for a bit. I like the health tracking of Apple Watch, and the SS model with sapphire is good quality but I really do not like being “connected” all the time.
The Apple Watch is currently sleeping in a drawer. I wish the health stuff could be designed to fit in a very tiny wrist band. |

I’ve worn 21 different watches in the past 58 days (according to my ‘OnMyWrist’ app) including an Apple watch 5 from time to time.
They all fit into the mix somewhere. |

Like most people here I have an Apple Watch. It functions as my alarm clock and I use it when I ride my bike or any other time I think my Rolex isn’t appropriate to wear which is t very often but it does happen...

Don’t have a smart watch.
Still fail to see the added value (to me), so having one would not be ”smart”
