Thoughts on the OP/DJ/Milgauss clasp VS. glidelock clasp?

I'm torn between a Milgauss 114600GV and an Explorer I (214270) which sport a different clasp as you might know: the Milgauss has the traditional clasp found from OPs and DJs, while the Explorer I has the glidelock clasp. This is my understanding - please correct me if I'm wrong.

Having used the glidelock clasp, I must say it is incredibly satisfying to use. However, I tend to think that the Explorer I is a bit boring and the Milgauss would be a bold choice that stands out. I love the dial and the presence of the Milgauss, but I would be missing out on the Glidelock-goodness.

Please help me solve this dilemma! How do these two clasps compare? Which one would you go with?

Many people prefer the glide lock. I don't.
It's way too big, all you see is clasp It's not very refined and really would look strange on the Milgauss or on some other references.
On my DSSD I don't mind since that is already a completely over engineered watch anyway.

Another downside is that you have to remove it from your wrist to adjust it. I never get it right the first time.

Much prefer the easy link, once sized correctly with the micro adjustment it's so easy to give that extra space on the go when needed on a hot day.
I even fitted my YM with this clasp and am happy that my PM SkyD came fitted with the easy link clasp.

Which clasp is fitted doesn't affect my choice to buy a watch or not. All Rolex clasps are secure

Both watches have the same Easylink clasp.

These are the differences to consider in your choice:
- Case thickness: Milg is thicker because the magnetic shielding.
- Bracelet: Milg has polished central links, Exp brushed
- Dial

I don't recall the Explorer having a glidelock.

Hmm. Is it the fliplock clasp then that I'm confusing it with?

No. It's the Easylink.

Ok, so it's the same clasp in essence. But there are differences in the locking mechanism I presume?

Easylink is great. I sold a Milgauss with that clasp recently. When I first got the watch I was slightly concerned about the lack of fold-over retainer to stop it coming undone accidentally, but in practice that never happened.

I have several watches with the Glide Lock clasp and several with the Easy Link system and two DD's with no adjustable clasp. I prefer the Glide Lock as I get a perfect fit every time I put the watch on. The Easy Link is close once I get it setup for the weather and my wrist swelling/shrinking. The DD's I accept for what they are, as I love the look. In the end they all work but Glide Lock is king.

Glidelock and easy-link are completely different. Explorer has easy link , same as oyster gmt2, exp2, SS yachtmaster

The only difference I know of is that some of these have the additional safety latch, and some do not. For example, my DJ41 has the Easylink extension, but does not have the safety latch, but my GMT-II has the Easylink extension plus the safety latch.

Thoughts on the OP/DJ/Milgauss clasp VS. glidelock clasp?

OP is referring to 2 different Rolex oyster locks. One with a swing arm on the explorer 1 and the other without on the Milgauss.

Milgauss clasp

-Doesn’t have a swing arm
-Has EZ link and micro adjustment

Explorer clasp

-Has a swing arm
-Has EZ link and micro adjustment
-Not a glidelock

Thanks for clarifying - this is exactly what I meant. So the oyster lock has nothing to do with easy link or glidelock, got it. You learn something new everyday they say!

You’re welcome. I like the oyster lock without the swing arm. It’s smaller in length and settles more comfortably on the underside of the wrist.

Added security from the swing arm is useful if you are planning on wearing the watch while doing rigorous activities. Like the explorer 1 is intended for.

Keep in mind though that true security lies in the springbars that actually secure the bracelet to the watch.

Note, the OPs and DJs don't have the flip lock/swing arm. And whereas the new DJs have the ez link extension in the clasp, the OPs do not.

Glidelock - multi position bracelet size adjuster that can be adjusted without using tools.

Easylink - a half link size adjustment which can be pulled out or folded in to adjust the bracelet by a fixed amount without using tools.

I have both types of clasps (snap close with fold over cover and snap close alone. I can't feel a difference in wearing comfort. The non fold over clasp shuts with a positive and secure snap. I have managed to ping it open just once, when my Sky Dweller clasp got caught on my clothing. It sprang open but was in no danger of falling off. Luckily.

Have Milgauss and 114060. In my wild thoughts, I’ve imagined sourcing a glide lock and having the center polished to match. Someone on here did it before through rolliworks (can’t find the post).

I agree that it’s bulky but for micro adjustments due to weather and salt—can’t be beat.

Does anybody have bad experience with the non fold over clasp? Is it worth to source the fold over clasp for let's say the OP, or am I good with the standard option?
Also speaking of the springbars - does rlx use any special springbars? Can they be ordered separately? Any other option for high quality springbars, if I swith to a leather bracelet? thx

I prefer the Easylink on my Milgauss than the Glidelock of the Hulk.
