42 mm rolex submariner?

Do rolex plan to make a bigger submariner with 42mm case, because 40 mm is too small for 2020.

IMHO, that would be a stupid move.

Why that would be stupid move? Tudor pelagos is 42mm, black bay is 41mm

They do its called the SD43...smart ass aside. I think that was their intention with the new SD release a nice middle ground for someone wanting a larger watch without the size of the DSSD. Course Rolex could surprise us all and release a larger sub, but would be really surprised if they did.

I guess the many waiting lists and high demand for the current 40mm sub is because its too small for 2020.

They have the SD43 and the deepsea if you want bigger

Well you just found your 42mm diver watch then!
Throw a poll and I suspect most will prefer a 40mm sub to a 42mm steroids-boosted so-2020 diver.
But then again, I could be completely off.

10 years ago I think large watches were trendy and fashionable. These days, not so much.

Millenials want bigger watches, 40mm is way too small for a modern sport oriented man.

Refer to the Sea-Dweller and the Deepsea. Submariner for heritage reasons will be resistant to size changes for a long time

It’s best to cut off sea dweller production and make 42mm submariner with multi color dials

When I read the title, this was my exact thought.

10 years ago what you write was true, but these days, not so much. At least here in California the last few years has revealed a return to more traditional size watches.

It’s time for rolex to change. Baby boomers and gen x were good customers, but times goes by. Millenials ar dominating the market now, they want huge submariner - a statement watch. They play games, watch e-sporta and want something new, not a small grandpas clock

As others have stated, doesn't the SD43 fill this space? Am I missing something other than pretty colored dials?

I'm a millennial, we want 40mm watches. The ones that want gigantic watches are generally the millennial that can't afford them anyways.

The thing about millennial is they want to come and change history - change what the model represents. What they don't realize is, if they want to change what the model is, then they don't want that model at all.

If you want a bigger submariner, there's the SD43.

Also, anyone know when the 2020 releases are happening?

I wouldn’t think so demand is so high for existing subs, the current model size is in between large and small well positioned if trends change.

You keep saying the same things, not to mention you are kind of doing it in a condescending way. Your opinion is not fact and the general consensus is that you are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, if you want to have constructive discussions we would all love that but enough of the misguided facts, eh?

IMO as a Gen Z (15 years old currently), the submariner is perfectly fine. I would love to get my hands on one some day, with the size being 40mm.

Sky-dweller don’t talk to me at all. Even 40 mm submariner is so boring. Millenials and gen z prefer PEWDIEPIE. He once had rolex gmt II master, but he don’t like it anymore cause it’s boring. Rolex became old boring mans game and they forgot that rolex is first of all was innovator for sport watches

Not true at all. I dig smaller. Oversize watches are not trendy anymore.

Again, not sure if you just read my post, but that is another generalization. I will tell you any day that I would rather be on this forum, read over Paul Newman, and do many other things than watch Pewdiepie all day.

SD = Sea-Dweller 43, not Sky-Dweller

There may be some millennial who think it's boring man's game. No problem, Rolex isn't the brand for them then. There's Omega, IWC, and AP. AP makes some huge watches that should satisfy their needs.

You have to remember, part of the reason why Rolex has staying power is that they do NOT change. Change is introduced slowly, gradually, and for good reason. It isn't introduced just because some portion of a generation wills it to be so.

It's a Youtube channel/YouTuber that has (or had) the most subscribers on Youtube? Anyways, he is absolutely wrong in saying that, and speaking from a Gen Z perspective barely any of my peers "prefer pewdiepie" as OP says.

I can't get thru one of that guy's videos. Personally, I also don't get/understand a lot of mainstream YouTubers, btw.

Also, it's commendable that you're so young yet have already made a Rolex purchase on your own. I'd like to see more of that - more folks should start with success young.
