Purchase Advice: Blue DJ 36 or wait for another ND Sub

Alright, here's another what should I buy thread. To be honest, I am admittedly a recovering serial watch flipper and finally feel like I am ready to settle down from the flipping madness and focus on a core-permanent collection.

That being said, I'm ready to make another Rolex purchase and am struggling to decide which path to take.

One of my local AD's does have a Datejust 36mm blue stick dial (smooth bezel and oyster bracelet) ready to go or I can play the waiting game to get on the list for a Submariner.

I've owned No-Date Subs in the past and of course loved them but something about the Rolex blue dial is just mesmerizing to me and I'm so drawn into it.

Do I go for the blue DJ now or hold out for a Sub?

Well thats exactly my concern. No body really knows how long the wait could be. AD claims they don’t keep a list and to just keep checking in....

Sounds like you made up your mind already.

The DJ blue is beautiful. As long as you’re OK with a 36mm I would say go for it.

I have both. I really do like the DJ and for the most part intend it to be part of my collection long term. (I have the black. Wife has the blue.) To me personally, DJ36 and Sub are great for any collection.

It's a great daily. Easy to wear and pretty low key in that config.

Good luck either way. All the best.

I’d probably buy the DJ while I waited for the sub. Once the sub comes in sell the DJ or if possible keep both.

The current model sub being a reference you owned won’t be a good choice now that you admit being attracted more to blue dials.
The coming sub “tomorrow’s launch” may be an option as some suggest it could be blue! But here’s a risky one since it may take some time of wait before being able to get it.
The DJ blue / sticks in one of the classiest, I would get it now, enjoy it while my name is on the waiting list for the new sub if it comes in blue ;-)

I would wait for the Sub, it seems like it's what you really want anyway, and in my opinion, the smooth bezel on the DJ is a deal breaker.

Au contraire - the smooth bezel is butter.
