Rolex boxes reference

Hello,

could you please anyone explain, whats the difference between boxes with reference for example 39139.02 , 39139.04 , 39139.64? The inner green box as well as the outer paper box, both have the same reference number.

Are those references related to the specific locations or years or it’s just random or even some other different reason?

Please share your knowledge if you know.

Thanks in advance.

In my limited experience it's a lottery which box you got dependent on what the shop had. I never paid any attention to them past taking the watch out and stashing them away. But I have two different types.
