BRAND BATTLE - TAG Heuer vs. Breitling

TAG Heuer has the Monaco, Carrera, Aquaracer, etc.

Breitling has the Navitimer, Super Ocean, etc.

So, which brand is “better?” Which do you prefer and why?

In general, I prefer the fit and finish of Breitling. Plus, their B01 has proven to be a pretty solid movement over the past 10+ years. Couple cool pieces of history for both brands in this article https://blog.crownandcaliber.com/the...e-chronograph/

I’m not sure if you’re serious with this question or not. It’s not even close. Breitling is every bit as good as Rolex or Omega. The movements the bracelets the cases the Heritage, everything. The only thing they are not as good at is marketing apparently.

Both great but I chose Breitling.

I like both brands, several models from each’s catalogue that I really like, several models I don’t. I would happily buy one of the models I like from each brand but I don’t know or care which brand is better.

Breitling just seems to be such a higher quality watch to me. Solely personal opinion, this is a baseless statement with no factual backing.

I've owned all three and can't agree with that at all. Movements alone they only have one!

I have owned a couple of Breitlings in the past years and I can only say good things about them.

With that said, I seriously dislike most of the 45+ millimetres watches they produce.

I like the new Autavia line from TAG but honestly I don't see myself buying one. So I vote for B.

I definitely side on the Breitling side much more. They make some pretty cool classically styled watches.

Not to beat on Tag too much, but their models always tend to side on trends and current fashions, they typically don’t age very well. I much prefer the classically styled models as they always look good through time. Tags aren’t completely awful, but I just don’t feel they are at the same level as Breitling on style and quality.

I like them both, but at a push would go with the winged B.

Breitling takes the cake for me - I only own one Breitling, it's an Emergency.

The Tag while I like some of the pieces just doesn't do it for me.

Owned several Tag Heuer and Breitling models in my life. Both nice brands IMHO. Breitling gets between those two my vote.

Voted Breitling because this is a modern poll. If we time traveled back to the 60s/70s, I would choose old school Heuer. I’m a sucker for those racing chronograph.

Today, I would put both brands in the same general category in terms of quality and I would put Tudor, Omega, and Rolex in that same category, albeit there is a slight difference in quality among all of these brands. Both TAG Heuer and Breitling make too many watches, in terms of both catalog offerings and production numbers, in my opinion, and most watches from both brands don't really appeal to me. That written, I think Breitling overall makes better watches, although their prices are higher too. I'm a fan of Breitling's 43mm and smaller Navitimers, their Premier Line, and their SuperOcean Heritage Line but I also really like the new anniversary TAG Heuer Carreras.

I think this hits the nail on the head.
