Daytona white big jump

The ss Daytona has broken 30k
It seems that the white took the big jump

In the past the difference was at most 2k between the white and black

Now it seems almost 4 k

Yet the demand of the white has gone up

White to black was a difference of almost 2k

Now its almost 4k why the jump?

All Daytonas are equal but some Daytonas are more equal than others.

The price is going up because the grey market guys tell you it is going up.
They buy from flippers and horde. Unless you are a big whale at AD, you cannot get the SS Daytona.
Then, if you want it badly enough, you pay up.
If we keep buying at crazy prices, they will keep bumping the prices.
Next stop, $40K.......insanity

The price on the DSW white Daytona is high in part due to the face that it’s fully stickered.

I don't think I'll sell mine until $40K. At $50K I'm surely out

It’s still available. I have purchased from DavidSW. I would say his pricing is usually accurate. If he lists for $30k he will be able to sell for 30k.

Also your buying the seller with him. Id pay a little more for peace of mind.

I don't want to tie up 30k now but if someone buys that fully stickered watch and puts it in the safe for 10 years it might be worth quite a bit esp if discontinued. Don't know the shelf life of stickers.

I contacted DavidSW shop this past summer. Offered $2K under what they were asking for a new Daytona, they would not budge a dime. My guess is he will sell sooner than later at that price he has listed. His prices can seem higher than others but he knows the market, he sells quite a bit of his watches, they don’t just sit. He gets constant inventory, watches going out and new ones coming in.

I think there is a market price and a Davidsw price. David’s is always slightly higher, and rightfully so. There is no risk. You know it’s perfect, authentic and you can feel safe in your purchase. That’s worth the extra.

Funny enough, I have same initials as you do (RTS} but, you're a bit confused and got it backwards!! 116500 White>116500 Black (no contrast, can't read a thing on it). 116520 Black>116520 White (boring silver sub dial rings......no pop to it). Oh yeah...the 16520 Zenith White>than all previously mentioned!!!!

The crazy 31.5K price also has another benefit for David and the other greys. Those on the fence about spending 28 or 29k, because that seemed high, will now feel that’s a bargain and jump on those pieces in fear having to pay 30k+. Unfortunately, the larger greys know this and unless something drastic happens with supply, this will continue.

I actually don’t think people hate the black dial, I just think the black dial is ubiquitous in Rolex sport models, so the white dial is more uniquely Daytona. I imagine if there were more white dials in the sport lineup the black dial Daytona would be at least as popular as the white dial.

A 2018 116500 seems not to fetch as much. Why is that you think?
