Strap help please

Evening all, I am looking for some advise I have a watch passed down to me by a relative. It’s been sat in a cupboard for the past 10 years and not worn due to the gold strap. It’s not something that I’m a fan of. Can any one tell me if I would be able to get it changed into a leather one, like the other one in the pictures. I’m not very knowledgeable on this sort of thing hence the question. Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks

Can you show a photo from the back, it's hard for me to see how that strap is attached. I can't see any lugs.

Anyway, generally speaking the answer is yes. Straps come in standard widths, measured in mm, e.g. 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm. And they are attached between the lugs using spring-bars. They are available online, but since you are inexperienced, it might be easiest to visit a watchmaker's shop to have one fitted. They often have an assortment on display.

I dunno, I don't see any lugs. Sometimes these are welded/brazed/soldered right to the case and the lugs cut off. If you have a photo of the back of the watch, I might agree with Dan S, or I might disagree. If it's brazed/welded/soldered, you are out of luck --adding new lugs will be downright expensive.

Hi, I will post a picture from the back, but there are no lugs just the gold “chain mail” coming straight off the casing.

Thanks

If you can see how the mesh strap is attached, let us know.

That looks like one of the many 60s variants with an integrated bracelet.

It's solid gold, usually, but the bracelet is bonded to the case shell and you can't swap it out with leather.
