Cellini not being sold in U.S. ?

I heard a rumor that Rolex is not shipping any Cellini to the United States in 2021 because of a ban on alligator straps from Louisiana?
Rolex is “ respecting” the ban?
Anyone hear anything like this ?
Sounds crazy

California is seeking to ban the import of crocodile and alligator goods... so, many companies have pulled those products already. The legislation is being challenged in the courts.

Seems ridiculous. I may have heard they’re just replacing straps with leather.

Incidentally, all I saw recently were Cellini in the case! Four total.

The US has no ban on Louisiana Alligator straps. California and Louisiana are toe to toe in a battle over the former’s law about this. But Rolex isn’t halting Cellini sales in US over that.

Easier to just supply them on alternate leather bands

JLC have done this. Purchases a Master Compressor a couple years back from EU and it could not be shipped to Canada with the Crocodile strap.

Hmmm. Tourneau told me they could not order a Alligator strap after 1/1/20 or 1/1/19 - I don't recall. But they are still selling Speedy on gator

So they will stop distributing their watches because of a ban on a specific type of leather out of which the straps are made (watches, generally, aren't made out of leather) - a ban currently only instituted in 2 states.

My AD told me they weren’t going to be selling the line anymore and to feel free to make an offer on whatever they had. Basically just looking for around cost, I believe. They’re nice, but not for me so I didn’t make an offer, but I believe there’s truth to it.

cellini moonphase is being discontinued
the others are not
also they will not change the leather on watches
they are not going to sell different leather to different markets
thats absurd

If they quit harvesting crocodiles and alligators, they will overpopulate and end up eating people. Don’t let them eat people, watch bands are a much better idea!

Back in the day Rolex used to send watches without bracelets to some countries and put bracelets made there. I assume they could do the same with straps for Cellini. Of course, they will need some time to find a supplier, but after that I assume they will do just that.

Got info from AD

I was told by my AD. They said Rolex will not ship Cellini to the U.S. in the year 2021 because of the straps. They will not replace the straps this year with “ other “material. This is just what they told me, sounds weird . I don’t know if its true
.

My AD said the same exact thing. 3 left in the CA AD I went to, they can still sell what they have left. No discount.

New Speedmaster is not being shipped with an alligator strap. Probably just a coincidence...
