Original Batman (1st gen) Owners

How are you feeling after hearing they are re-releasing the watch with the new movement?

For myself, I'm disappointed.

I'm curious where everyone(s) thoughts.

I'm happy because I sold mine years ago when you had to sell at a loss. Now I can get back in the game at retail.

What is there to be disappointed about? You still have the original watch with a more reliable movement.

Don't care to be honest. I've owned mine for 5 years now. It's consistently in the top 3 of my rotation.

You can aim to get the Pepsi to complete the GTM oyster series...

For price wise, Pepsi oyster price will go to the moon follow by Batman oyster.

The old Batman oyster price will go up too...

There is only ever one first, and IMO its one of the top icons of the 6 digit Rolex watches (along with DaytonaC and Hulk)

It explains why they emptied their vaults of NOS in November.

I bought mine 4 years ago at retail price. No regret, love it. It has a large sign attached to it "Not for sale!"

Oof..there’s nothing exclusive about the 116710BLNR now. It’s an inferior movement and not as fun as 126710BLNR when it comes to bracelet options. Pretty sure the grey price will take a hit. Glad I sold mine at peak.

Agree with this. Glad to [hopefully] see the prices come down on these.

I don’t get why it should matter. You purchased and like the watch for what it is right?? Nothing has changed. There is nothing limited or even exclusive about the BLNR in any generation to be threatened by.

disappointed? only if you cared about grey prices and were planning to sell

i have had the watch for years (before the hype). I wore the watch yesterday. Today, I'm wearing the watch. What's changed exactly?

So it drops $3k-$5k who cares

This explains my thought perfectly.

However, I'm still very happy I have my watch, which I gifted to myself after graduating college on behalf of my dad that has passed, so there is sentimental value behind it.

I was curious on where everyone's thoughts were. (Please do not take offense to my post anyone!!!)

I've been enjoying mine for almost 7 years and bought it for less than retail. It was my first Rolex purchase and I will not part with it. Nothing to be disappointed about!

Are you flipper or watch enthusiast?

I am watch enthusiast I have 2017 116710BLNR and it has an older movement and it does not bother me that I need to upgrade to newer movement. I have 1427O Explorer I and I do not need new Explorer I with 3230 movement. In the end I wear my watches as tools and I enjoy them. The Original "Batman" 116710BLNR will always be special to me but for others they may want the latest and greatest I do not need to upgrade every Rolex release. Some enthusiast may benefit from a longer power reserve but in the end it personal preference.

Love it. If this wasn't an FU by Rolex, I don't know what is. Bringing back the BLNR will surely drop the value on the pre-existing versions on the after market.

The EXP1 getting a TT model............Big whoop! EXP2 getting the new movement.... yeah like no one saw that coming.

Looks like nothing was discontinued. Gold Daytona with Green bezel, still available, Platona, still available, DSSD, still available.

Awesome!

Yeah, my opinion, I'm underwhelmed by the releases.

Actually, the 39mm Explorer I is discontinued. Only 36mm is available now.

Given I’m not a seller actually a reduction in market prices just means I pay less in insurance premium. Works for me.

To be honest let’s see how much Batman Rolex will push out. As far as value it is what it is this can give others to get the Batman on a oyster

I love it! It gives enthusiasts more bracelet options.

It is also possibly a curve ball thrown by Rolex at speculators. In the past the release strategy was supportive of preowned prices. They may be changing course to lower resale values closer to retail.

I've owned the 116710 BLNR for 5+ years and love it. Couldn't care about resale. Exclusivity-wise, it would be foolish to think this is a rare watch. So it does not bother me that production of that style is back; as a bonus we now have a BLRO on Oyster...

Well done Rolex! Speculators beware of what's coming... Rolex is after you

LOL yes, I'm sure the chiefs at Rolex sat at a conference table and said "what can we do to piss off the speculators this year"...

This was a very easy decision to open up options...It makes actual business sense and is a nod to their customers.

Not a damn thing is going to happen to the prices of any of the BLNR or BLRO models in any material way unless there is a change in supply (HINT, there won't be).

Hummmm I think the price might be less than 126710blnr, but sure enough it will continue to go up as it is pegged with 126710blnr

Agree with other posters. I think people want the Batman on oyster and it’ll propel its price more as compared to the Pepsi, including the original Batman.

Not bothered. Bought to wear and not to sell. One day one of my two nephews will receive it. As with all watches I have already or acquire going forward. They’re 3 and a bit, and approaching 2 years of age respectively, and if I passed it to either of them today they’d probably scratch it less, and certainly won’t catch it on as many door handles.

I’ll buy more new watches which will eventually be superseded by a newer movement too I would imagine (and hope).
