Should I buy GMT Master II S/S or Yacht Master 40 blue face?

Have you tried either of them? IMHO the biggest difference between the two is proportions. The YM is sleek, ergonomic, and a stone cold stunner in real life.

The GMT is beautiful, but retains the current tool watch proportions that are common in the Rolex lineup.

Do you use/need the GMT complication?

Which GMTII are you considering? Some versions stand out more than others. The blue dial is incredible on the YM.

Both are very good watches but I would choose the Yatchmaster over the GMT.

The GMT is a classic but it is quite hyped now. My suggestion would be to fine a reasonably price vintage GMT.

The YM while not as loved is a beautiful watch without an identity.

Nothing fits like a YM

But GMT wears better than a sub

You’d be fine with either

Go with aesthetic preference

I’ve owned both but neither for long!
Overall I found the Yacht Master elegant but slightly too small and a unisex watch rather than a mans watch, also the blue dial isn’t as stunning as everyone seems to make out, looks good in bright sunlight but otherwise it’s just dark blue.
The GMT wears larger but ultimately I found the all black a little boring, I prefer more colour and a more interesting dial so went Yacht Master II, it’s by far the best looking Rolex I’ve owned.

I think you’re right about the blue. That’s the thing I’ve found with many sunburst. In the light/sun they are amazing. Not in those conditions they can be kinda drab/sad.

Add whichever watch you like the best, not the one the internet tells you to buy.

I am thinking the ceramic black and white stainless steel. Yes, YM blue dial with red hand is beautiful.

They are both very nice; the YM is probably easier to source right now at retail

Hi All,

I decided to get YM 40mm Blue Face. It is on the way from DavidSW.
Thank you all for your input. I think YM Blue face kind of unique and not many out there. Love the contrast of blue face and red hand. Profile is elegance.

I would choose the YM for all the reasons stated. I had a choice and chose the Rhodium, as I thought it was more versatile in dressing up as need be, but they are both beautiful!
