punching another hole on PP leather strap?
has anyone modified their leather strap by punching in another hole?
owner of a 5524R here. My wrist is rather small, just 16cm. For the original leather strap, the smallest hole just fits me when it's a warm day. But when it's colder, or that I want to the watch to fit more snug with my arm, I don't have that choice (especially for this watch is very top heavy). My AD says there's a shorter strap that I can use, and he's ordered it for me. Funny thing is that for my original strap, despite selecting the smallest hole, the extra bit that sticks out is actually still quite weirdly short, (just 2cm). That means had I have a bigger wrist, the left over bit would be non-existent. You wouldn't even be able to tuck the strap under the fasten thing. which made me think, would the better option is to just put in 1 more hole into the strap, rather than using a shorter strap. But that, I would not know where to go to do that, certainly I don't think PP would do that. Such a task, I'm not gonna DIY. suggestions? |

I think you can go to shoe repair shop ask them to punch the hole for you with a minimum wage.
That strap will be just for you only, it won't look too good but it sure works fine for you.

Your AD can certainly punch another hole for you. Alternatively, there is a shorter strap which you can order too.

Only a PP dealer should do this. I have a watch puncher but for the PP strap only trust a good expert watchmaker at dealer , not just a sales AD.
Or get a shorter strap from PZp, they do take a long time to get.

Aren’t the patek strap holes square with some side slits? Some I have seen are. If this is the case it’s rare to find a square hole punch and even less so to find one the exact dimensions Patek uses. I’d ask the AD since they will have the tool.

I got my own 3x2mm punch from Cousins UK for making 5524 strap holes.

I also have a small wrist and I asked my AD to punch an extra hole in between a S strap.
I found the best option for a dress watch strap is combining a XS/S size strap length Benz |

Have to see. Upon msging my AD, he told me he had already put in an order 3 days prior because he noticed I was a bit worried that the watch might wear too loosely. I guess I'll make my decision after trying both straps. Luckily the straps cost almost pennies compared to the watch. |

Yes, your AD should have the hole puncher, but it may only have a round hole and not the square hole.
I took my Camille Fournet strap (for a VC) to my PP AD to punch the hole in the strap. Not exactly the same sized round hole but good enough. |

Just had this done today...
My wrists are small was well. Wearing it in the last hole, the watch fit OK, but I like it a bit more snug. Visited the AD today, they took it, punched a clean hole perfectly spaced from the last one and it now wears brilliantly. I was going to spring for the smaller strap but not necessary. Very happy now.

For comfort and fit on the overall watch, I would prefer getting a short strap (whether its a Patek strap or an alternative strap brand).
My wrist is small as well. |

I have relatively small wrists (6.3in or around 16cm). Short straps fit a little weird because part that is tucked is really short. For that reason, I prefer regular length straps.
if you’re like me, I’d recommend getting another hole punched. I usually use the last or second to last hole on standard length straps (depending on the strap / strap maker) |

I had the exact same problem with my 5524g and my AD just added 1 more hole and now it's perfect.
