What is your personal top three “achievable” palmares?
So here’s the deal, we have all seen countless “top soandsomany under soandsomuch” with regard to certain price points, or “top howevermany price no object”.
But what I wanted to ask is the following: For you personally, and assuming your life continues as it is currently, what are the top three watches you would like (and have a reasonable expectation) to collect over the next couple of years, if you have not already. This means that if you are part of the royal family of a small middle eastern country, the response will likely be very different from what you’d answer if you’re an upper middle class guy here in Switzerland or a stock broker on Wall Street or whatever applies to you, you get the idea. For me personally, I think my latest acquisitions are pretty much as far as I can and am willing to go for the foreseeable future. So I can answer - with the satisfaction of now finally owning all three of these, since I got the Patek yesterday - that my top three consists of the following: (Grand) Lange 1 Journe CS (40) Patek 5205g But what are your top three?

I'm waiting for my Vingt-8 and that is expected in 4 years' time. Also registered interest on the green 5270P but doubt I will get it. The third piece is the Journe Resonance. There is a fourth but not sure if I get it though - RRCC2.

Lange 1 MP (have it)
OF Daytona (have it) 5326g (will likely have to wait awhile) All the typical complications and dial colors in my overall collection covered once I get the 5326g (no PC wanted). Considering OF Daytona trade to Datograph, but the OF is super versatile. Maybe when the Czapek comes in. |

Interesting idea. Over the past 1-2 years I have noticed my preferences shift from time to time. So, it is nice to document what's on the short list today:
1. PP 5205G/R 2. Lange 1 MP WG Black Dial 3. A-steel-high-beat-Grand-Seiko-that-is-not-too-thick-without-power-reserve-on-the-dail-without-a-chopped-off-hour-hand Last edited by Subtronics; 10 April 2022 at 05:42 AM.. Reason: Formatting |

I like where this thread is going:
1. An Omega under 10mm thick 2. An HYT that actually works with a sensible service fee scale and wearable case dimensions 3. A new Panerai with decent movement finishing and no sign that they intentionally cheapened the watch |

In all honesty, some recent GS models already dropped the power reserve from the dial, so one can hope for slimmer cases in the future. I looked at some of the high beat movements and they seem rather thick in comparison to similar calibers from other manufacturers. For example: GS 9SA5 (5.18 mm) versus JLC Caliber 899 (3.7 mm). |

Are you getting the CMS in yellow or grey dial? I put my name down for a yellow one but not sure when it will happen. My wife thinks I am a little crazy to get a yellow dial watch |

I think I have my grail sports-watch already:
VCO Chrono reverse panda Then I have to fill that list up with two more watches and there are so many good ones, but my line of thinking is one full gold watch and one Patek dress watch. That could for example be: VC 222 Patek World timer But it could also be (if one can dream a bit): Rolex Daytona or Day & Date in Gold with green dial Patek Moonphase watch like 5396R The gold watch has to be fairly slim and not too chunky. The dresswatch I prefer a slightly larger dial, so like 39mm or so as my wrist is pretty large. Any better ideas to steer me in another direction? |

Man, so many great trios listed here, you guys have such exquisite taste, no bad choices among all the watches listed.
Great inspiration to further extend the collection too. In the meantime, here are my three in a picture: (With a RG Lange 1 Timezone I wear as my daily)

All grey for me. Seems like for whatever reason the yellow is more coveted but I love the monotone look.

If I had to pare my collection down to three, it'd be:
1) 15047 2) 72-01 3) 15500or Since collecting the 72-01 nothing has really captured my attention BUT I know I would like to have a PC someday.

1. VC Overseas dual time
2. ALS Zeitwerk 3. AP 16202 4. Czapek antarctique Already own the VCO, the Zeitwerk I plan to get for my 50th and the 16202 i'd pick up if ever I receive the opportunity at list $. Listed the Czapek as an outsider should I never receive a call for the 16202. |
