Got the call for a DSSD!

Hello there!
I live in Abu Dhabi, UAE, got the call from my local AD last month to come pick up a new Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea D-Blue James Cameron 126660, which is exactly the Rolex watch I wanted, I have been on the waiting list for a little over a month, the AD was actually excited to sell me the watch and went out of their way to get me one ASAP, so why is that:
- as per the AD I have a big wrist and this Rolex would really look good on me
- I am an advanced diver, and I brought my diving certifications along to show the AD
- I do work in oil and gas designing high pressure equipment, and I do use FEM simulations to design for pressure similar to the ones rolex shows on their website promotional material, the AD checked out some of my designs on LinkedIn
- Apparently there is not much demand for the deepsea in this region, as the AD put it, wrist sizes here are not big enough for this watch
The AD even offered to put me first on the list for the newer mode, 136660, which they should be receiving next month, but I went with the 126660 since the new one has a sharp chamfer on the crystal which I didn’t like, and it loses the diver extension with the secret little hidden Rolex crown
However, in Abu Dhabi, the AD prices are really expensive, I paid a little more than 16,600 USD in total, and we only have just 5% VAT overhere!
This is my first Rolex, and I am very happy to own it, I really love this watch and a appreciate the engineering that went into it, and I like the idea that this is the biggest, baddest, thickest, most over engineered Rolex ever! And to me the dial fading from blue to black with the Kawasaki green text is the best looking Rolex dial ever. The watch doesn’t feel too big, or top heavy at all, and is very practical for daily use!
I love the original bracelet, but I found it a little too flashy for daily use in the office, I already put a black RubberB strap, it looks more stealthy and conservative this way, and doesn’t attract much attention.
Happy to join the rolex members club! Cheers!
