My "New" 2 Watch Collection!
Just received my 2010 Daydate 36 from DavidSW. Here it is next to my 1989 Submariner. I had been toying with the idea of getting a daydate and ultimately decided that I liked the prior generation 118238 vs the newer one (primarilly due to lumed stick markers & roman numberals on the dial railroad so I started looking for a good 2010 (son's birth year) DD 36 and came across this one. Now my 2-watch collection (3 at the moment but will get to that) is made up of 2 watches that have some meaning/significance to me. The 1989 Submariner is special to me because I got it the year I turned 21 (89) while I was on active duty in the Navy serving onboard a nuclear ballistic submarine! Additionally being an 80's kid, I like the idea that this sub is a 1989 submariner, so last year of the 80's so that's kind of cool to me. The daydate is memorable because it's a 2010 model which is the same year our son was born and will be a nice reminder of him every time I think about the story with this watch. Plus I got it this month which coincides with my 55th birthday. Anyhow thought I'd share. Here are some pics of the watches. You'll see a DJ41 in one of the pictures and that's because I picked this DJ41 in 2021 but I just haven't quite bonded with it. Although beautiful, the dial always looks/feels a hair too large for my taste, and the propotion of bracelet to case also doesn't quite look right for my taste so I've been debating selling it especially now that I have the DD.

I have honed my Rolex collection down to an identical (newer) 2 as well! You have good taste. I personally have my 126610LN and am on the list for a YG White Roman DD40. It's all I want anymore from Rolex, calling it a day after that. Can't have a better duo my friend

Congrats and lovely story.
1989 Sub looks like a Class Act with the Given History. The Day Date 2010 has a newage vintage look and completes your collection. Allow some time for DJ to grow on you else do what your heart wants next. :)
