So... I have an 116509 and a YM42 on OF so not quite the same but pretty similar. The 42 is my daily since the OF takes lifes abuse much better than the polished links on the bracelet. Even with OF the case and clasp being WG gold gives it a heft and intrinsic value I prefer to SS. SS is great for a tool watch but lets face it these are luxury items. I would keep the WG one myself. They make a great daily, it flys under the radar but still works for business and casual.

I had a 116500 and loved it. I then added a 116519 LN which wasn’t planned, but figured they were different enough to coexist.

Six months later I realised I’d only worn the 116500 once since getting the 519 so sold out to a friend.

I have some other watches do the 116519 isn’t an only watch, but I wear it a lot and if I had to go down to one watch, it would be the 116519.

The WG 116519 is an incredible watch! So are the SS 116500s, but if I could one pick one, it would be the WG on OF. Pure class!

If you can buy them at retail, it’s a bit more complicated as they are all incredible watches. Rolex knows what they are doing.

I have SS Daytona black dial and WG Daytona blue dial, rotate them from time to time and love wearing both depending on a mood, cant even say which one I like to wear better. I would leave both.

This is a question that I spent some time with as I’ve requested a 116519 and have a 116500.

Oysterflex is an awesome daily wear. It’s comfortable and eliminates a huge amount of scratches / wear and tear just by what it is. That combined with the ceramic bezel and chrono pushers on this piece gives it some perfect features to ovoid wear & tear after much daily use.

I say an oysterflex Daytona is probably the best daily wear in the Rolex line up. Of course this is my opinion…. I daily my 116500 on oysterflex. If I added one, I believe I would use the 116519 more and keep my 116500 on bracelet there on out

Now about parting with the 116500 to replace with the 116519. I considered it. Yet I couldn’t bring myself to do this. I know I would regret it. Perhaps if I had other SS pieces, I could talk myself into it. But I’m sure I’d regret it.

With your 116500 you have the “perfect one Rolex collection.” Again, my opinion.

An alternative option could be to buy an oysterflex strap and use it on your 116500 from time to time.

If you want one watch keep what you have. If you want to add the 116519, yes. Certainly! It’s a great piece.

If you read this far….

Keep both. You’ll regret getting rid of the 116500

Once I got the 500 I have to admit, I was a bit underwhelmed going from WG to SS. The 519 feels much more substantial and special on the wrist than the 500.
Thats the problem with a PM piece, all my stainless stuff feels so blah now. It ruins you..

Thank you all for the feedback. In a weird turn of events, I have been laid off, so the option to keep both is off the table. I am likely going to keep the 116500LN just given I think I will be happier in the long term with the SS. I want to wear it everyday, and the WG concerns me over the long haul. Maybe I am worrying too much, but the SS is still a pretty great watch, even if the WG is amazing.

Thanks again for all of the advice. If anyone is interested, PM me. Thanks!

We're not joking when we say keep both. They are different enough and both so great. Keep them both.

I own the same WG daytona and a black steel daytona. I think I will let the steel one go soon. There is too much in horology that I would like to experience over having two ceramic daytonas.
