Icon4 What's the breakdown of production / model ?

Just wondering what the approximate quantity made Per year of each style / model
If Rolex makes 1,000,000 watches per year - it seems like DJ's & Subs are the lions share .while Daytonas are like "Hens teeth "

Anyone have info on this ?

No one outside of Rolex knows this. Even the 1M watches per year is pure speculation.

I remember reading that Datejust model makes up 50% of all Rolex production.

When you break it down t0 1816 ADs world wide you're only left with 275 watches per dealer for other models.

You can see why they're in demand.

If the numbers are accurate (or even close) it's easy to see why we are all on waitlists!

I would bet there are less than 2-3 dozen people at Rolex who know the exact numbers. They aren’t talking.

I would also love to know this split. Would actually help explain a lot!

One thing is for certain (to me at least) ... there are a lot more produced than we think there are. I try hard not to fall for the marketing hype and just quickly glancing at any of the grey's, eBay, etc shows hundreds of every model available for sale. So while it may not be thousands upon thousands of Daytona's produced, there are plenty made on an annual basis. They are just used as "carrots".

Many DJs produced, and yet I'm still waiting for a DJ41! However, I consider myself lucky for scoring a YM, SD43 mk1 and Sub41, each with no purchase history. These were the good days.

Yes, prior to 2016, COSC used to release the actual numbers of watches that companies submitted for testing. Since all Rolex are COSC certified, the 795,716 watches they submitted to COSC in 2015 was the actual number of watches they made that year.

Since then, COSC haven't released the exact numbers on grounds of confidentiality, so the 800k-1m figure is just than an educated guess. Could even be more than 1m as a lot can change in 7 years.
