Dive watch selection
TRF - I want to test your opinions on a tool watch purchase. I currently own a BLRO and a JLC Master Control Moon. I am a regular diver and need a tool watch since I sold my 14060m (like an idiot) out of guilt when I bought my BLRO.
Looking for a non-Rolex diver that I will use diving + rougher water activities. Non-Rolex also because it will be travel companion regardless of geography. Planning for BLRO to be my true “daily” - it is going to take a beating which I love. For my dive watch - what do you think? Pelagos Black, Pelagos Blue, Pelagos 39, Omega SM 300, other? |

Dive watch selection
I personally prefer the Omega Seamaster, but all those are good choices. The Omega is going to give you a lot more options with dial colors if that matters to you. I have the blue dial variant.

Seiko prospex. I’m looking at a gold tone one very seriously after a guy that does work for me showed me his.
Rubber strap. Water resistant. Automatic. Dive bezel. <$1000. Looks pretty damn cool. Sent from my Apple privacy invasion product |

I'd also look at the Seiko Prospex range. So many great designs with interesting heritage and great performance and value. Maybe a Turtle or a Willard.

Another possible option? Pre-owned Breitling Superocean

Omega is the best movement and quality. If you’d rather have a Tudor though I’d go with the 39. Just curious, why leave the FXD off the list? That would be my first choice, probably even over the Omega.

39 is the best of those. the smp for all its great things fails hard in a few categories for me.
bracelet doesn't taper. the wart. terrible bezel design in terms of the grip. minor gripe is the upsize to 42 mm. original has better proportions.

There have been some great suggestions above. I went with the Pelagos 39. I haven’t had it long, but am very happy with it.
Good luck in your search. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd go with Omega Seamaster, it's the second iconic dive watch next to the Submariner......with a quality movement and variety of colour options also
Not to mention, it's more affordable than Rolex and makes a great combo with a Rolex in your collection Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner(116610LV), 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(311.30.42.30.01.006), 3) Rolex GMT-Master II(126710BLNR), 4) Breitling B01 Navitimer 43(AB0138211B1A1) |

Tudor 39 seems to be perfect for this. I’m still waiting to get the call though. So timing may be an issue on that one.

Definitely the Omega for me. Several great colors to choose from, Bracelet and many strap options including the rubber strap from Omega. Superior movement and Metas certified.
Easy choice. I have a white and the black variations.

The Pelagos 39 would round out that trio nicely

BUT if you are looking for some other suggestions I would check out Seiko or UN
I adore my SLA037 and the UN diver is a steal at current market prices. Both I would consider a step up from the ones you listed (and roughly same price) |

I voted "Pelagos Blue" hoping you secretly mean the FXD. My favorite in the lineup currently.

Curious why no one mentioned the Planet Ocean (39.5 or 43)?

I agree with Planet Ocean. The SMP is ugly with the skeleton hands. Never liked it even when it was first released in the 90’s that bothered me.
If you want something eye catching get the PO, and if you want something low key for travel the Black Pelly 42 is the best tool diver and would be my choice. I love the Pelly’s 42 so much I have all 3 of them lol |
