First and foremost great job. But try not to get too excited over the C24 prices, a dealer will likely offer you much less and its also worn. Also keep in mind the new PT DD40s look exactly the same as WGs so the investment activity will come into that model as well. Might want to try to sell high on it this year?

Not planning to sell this ever, not even for the highest price on c24. I just meant the risk taken at the time of purchase was well worth it. There was a 10% price hike in Jan and meteorite is getting more and more sought after thanks to Daytona and gmt.

And with the platinum model I guess that’s advantage WG. Same looks for almost half the price. Demand at AD or grey should naturally be higher for WG. Anyways PT is produced in way lesser numbers, and even lesser so in meteorite. If PT goes up so does WG.

I dont know about the demand part, PT to WG isnt the same as PM to SS, where the lower cost will drive up demand. You're dealing with a different type of customer. For example, if I was in the market for this style I'd rather wait for a PT version from the AD rather than pay a grey premium for WG. Even the PT smooth grey prices arent that much over list, just wait a bit.

Anyway it seemed like you were set on moving from it eventually even before you got it, if you like it and are now keeping it for good then nothing else matters. Congrats again.

Yup don’t care about the market prices. Just enjoying my watch and glad the premium I paid is safe which was a concern when buying.

You know I’ve just read through this thread, commented when you first posted I paid about £36k for this, at the time they were trading for about £32k I was adamant I wanted my dealer to source this for me and then was none for sale in the country so I paid well over what it was worth I just didn’t care I had to have it , I remember him making a comment to me and trying to talk me out of it telling me I am going lose money I said I couldn’t care less.

Funny to think back on that encounter.

Had a cool story too the buyer had just won the lottery and went and bought this watch in an AD after never having Owned a Rolex, he sold it a month later because he said it was too heavy and didn’t like it. Sure my dealer made a huge profit on my watch when he sold it to me

You did well as the premium is 100%+.

I was fortunate to pick this up recently as well and am simply blown away.

It looks great on your wrist.

Yep, I recall when you got it. about the same time I ordered it.

This is one to keep forever.

Do you also have the GMT Meteorite?

I had the DD meteorite-diamond but ended up trading it for a rose gold olive dial/diamond bezel. It was a beautiful watch but just seemed a bit bland to me for some reason. Goodluck with your decision...it is a beautiful watch.

i do not have the gmt meteorite, i did try it on when my dealer got it home to show me, it was very underwhelming. the blue the red and the meteorite there was too much going on. the bezel was overshadowing the dial. i was keen on purchasing it looking at it in pictures, but in person it was one disappointing piece!

I have the platinum smooth bezel i got last year with the meteorite dial.
I love it.
I like a very heavy watch and after platinum... its hard to wear anything else because it feels like a toy. This is a hold watch for me. Nothing else comes close to it.... especially the spectacular dial.
I bought it for the metal AND the dial. I LOVE the white glow of platinum.

In my opinion... if you have the money and you love it ... BUY IT. It's special and worth keeping. They are very hard to get from an AD as so few of them are out there. If you are lucky enough to be offered one.... jump on it ! lol

I personally have not heard of a single person yet that has been offered a meteorite platinum day-date from and AD. I am sure they are out there but i never have heard of one and no one yet with the new fluted bezel meteorite dial either.

From a secondary perspective, the question is the platinum meteorite worth the premium to the WG meteorite? Cheapest I see for the WG is $60kish and the lowest platinum meteorite I can find is $130k. Can't fathom or justify an extra 70k just for the platinum metal, rather allocate that to another watch.

Understand your thinking. BUT... that said.... to my eye... there is a HUGE difference between white gold and platinum. For one.... the color. The pure whitness of platinum is SO beautiful. And the weight. If you like a heavier watch then WG won't do it.
Now IF on the other hand... you are only interested in the look of a white metal.... then I can see the WG. But... if you are seriously interested in the characteristics of the metal... how it feels and looks... how it suits you... WG and platinum are 2 different animals.
You have to buy what speaks to you... for whatever your reasons are.
