I am looking for some advice. I am looking at purchasing another Rolex to commentate on a milestone. I currently have a 124060 given to me as a gift to celebrate graduating from university.

I am looking to get myself another Rolex to celebrate finishing my graduate studies in engineering. I figured the Milgauss Z-Blue would be a fantastic choice. I have always loved this watch since I was a child. The green bezel and lighting bolt hand are stunning. However, I do feel the watch is a little thick, and the polish centre links can scratch really easily. Overall, I love the look.

But I should mention, I love Submariners. I was thinking of only collecting Submariners. I dream of the day of having my ND, an LV and a white gold Sub. I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to get a 126610LV instead of the Milgauss. It would have a lot of sentimental value as my graduate advisors are connected to Gauss (i.e., my advisors, advisors, advisors ..., advisor is Gauss). What does the forum think?

The the z-blue is gorgeous, and would be awesome given the connection to your educational milestone. When I tried it on, I did think it felt a little top heavy because of its thinner bracelet and the diameter to height ratio you mentioned.

Can't go wrong with the sub, but since you've already got one I like the idea of branching out!

I think if you love submariners… I don’t know how you could find the Milgauss thick. I think the MG is the perfect choice, given the connections you mentioned, your affinity towards it, and the fact that it is simply a great watch.

I myself had an affinity to it (black dial GV), and I hesitated for so long. Once I bought it, though, I loved it, and have never looked back. I think it’s perfect for your situation.

If you are in a field of engineering related to magnetism, then definitely Milgauss.

Speedmaster was always my choice for an engineering-related watch.

Congratulations on nearing the end of your graduate degree!

I def prefer a Sub LV over a Milgaus, but I am not mad at the MG.

I also like diversity so I wouldn’t want two Subs in a two watch collection.

I know, I am no help.

I had the black Milgauss. Great looking watch and of high quality like all Rolex models. BUT, it was the most uncomfortable watch I’ve ever worn. The combination of thickness on the wrist and weight? It literally felt like I had a brick on my wrist. If you’re 250 pounds and a body builder or a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, then it won’t be an issue.

For comfort and esp if you like Subs, I’d go LV. OR a Speedmaster variant of some
Sort.

The Milgauss wears waaaaaay heavier. I have a Sub ( had many) and had the SD4K and the Milgauss felt heavier. That faraday cage makes a difference. Don’t know the actual gram weight of these watches but there’s something about the weight distribution with the Milgauss that made it feel HEAVY. Cool that you love yours though. Good looking watch.

I have a very bony wrist. I feel the case back of the Sub fits perfectly behind the bone. On the other hand the Milgauss has a thicker mid case than the Sub. After thinking some more, I will probably go with the Milgauss for the dial, crystal and story. It will also be nice to have some diversity in the collection.
