Servicing : AD or RSC
Now that a number of AD's are bringing Rolex Certified watchmakers in-house so they can capitalize on the upcoming CPO program - I assume they will also be offering in-house servicing. Would you consider having a piece serviced at an AD, or would you continue to use RSC only?

One of the good things about Rolex is that you can deal with the assorted RSCs directly and don’t get assigned a specific region or have to through an AD. ADs work for
Themselves and merely get to put the green sign on the door. Unless you know and trust somebody I wouldn’t go there. If something goes wrong or they’re not doing what they’re supposed to do - or go out of business in the meantime - good luck working things out. I’ve had too many bad experiences with assorted retail stores that run a bit of a repair side business. I just got my Sea Dweller back from Dallas. Perfect service and they did exactly what I asked them to do. The shipping is secure and easy. |

My AD was already offering “factory service” before the CPO program . If they performed the service you receive the same warranty card as any RSC .

My AD gives a Rolex 2 year warranty, good at any RSC.

My AD was annoyed when I wanted to send to Rolex rather than have it serviced locally, but they have done nothing for me so I couldn’t have been less concerned. I also was having polishing done and figured on average the person doing it would have more reps at a RSC. They did a good job.

RSC only, especially as it's a short drive away.

My AD is accredited to do the work and gives the same two year warranty as the RSC. The only grey area is warranty work. They can do some but there is a cut off point where it has to go to the RSC. They fixed my Z Blue in house under its original 5 year warranty. They had to send my 116613LB back to base for a repair within its original five year warranty.

The only address I use is this one:
3-5-7, rue François-Dussaud, 1211 Geneva 26, Switzerland. I bring them in person each time, it's a fun experience. |

I've yet to require any work to be done on my watches, however when the time comes, I'll be going to RSC here in Toronto directly, and not through the AD.
I am fortunate that I live in a city with a (well regarded) service center that I can visit. I understand that it's not so easy for many others in this vast country. .nic |

I have a situation where my Hulk stopped working (its a 2010, 15% off at AD, I got it before Hulk was hard). I moved to a house with a gate, UPS and fedex leave the packages at the gate or they leave them at CVS. Hommie dont play that so I will be repairing at the AD. Its too risky. Otherwise I would send to Dallas. So what I am saying is, AD is a backup to service centers.

Had a great recent experience with RSC in Dallas. Brought my 16610 Submariner in for scheduled maintenance service, which included a light polish.
Personalized service, fair price, quick TAT and excellent job with the polish. |

The AD gets any kind of work I need done, warranty or other. Their watch maker is certified and is the inside Rolex guru. He's been repairing primarily Rolex watches for 45 years or so, so I think I can trust him.

Any reason not to just stick with rsc unless the ad was a lot cheaper? Which I doubt would be the case

Took my 2020 116610 that was running slow our of specs to my local AD to have it regulated under warranty in house. Turns out it needs a service under warranty. That was at the end of December and they are still waiting on a mainspring to be shipped from Rolex. If local RSC's are going to have to wait for parts like this, I feel like they may lose their appeal and Rolex Dallas or New York may be the better option. Others experience my be different.

I have a Deepsea so it has to get sent to the main RSC for service.
The AD's (nor any independents, for that matter..!) don't have hydrostatic chambers that can seal test the watch to 4,875m so it's the only way for it to get a fully warrantied repair. I believe that it has to ship to Geneva, where the test equipment is, but could be wrong on that point. Luckily though that is many, many years away for me at the moment! |

Was going with AD in-house certified service until they discovered it was going to take at least 4 months for them to get a mainspring. They sent it to an RSC (not sure which one) as a result. Got it back in about 2 months. Rolex appears to be keeping all the parts for their own use.

One advantage to an AD with full Rolex accreditation is the ability to get to know the person who is doing the work.
When sent off to any of the RSC locations, you have zero knowledge of who will be touching your watch. With an AD doing the work, you get all of the benefits of RSC plus the ability to actually know the name of the person who will do the work. If you have concerns about their workmanship of course its off the RSC, but if you know them and can see their work for yourself, there is very little downside. Same green pouch & same 2-year warranty good at any RSC. |
