New Rolex boutique in Calgary. Opening when? With what?

I noticed when passing through there's a new Rolex boutique opening soon in a mall in Calgary.
Does anyone know when?

Also, what the heck are they going to put in it? The jeweller that owns it has another location in the city with about 10 watches in total on display. Hardly a thrilling collection to fill what looks to be a rather large store of thousands of square feet.

When new boutiques open in the current climate what what do they look and function like?

It's all boarded up right now and just says coming soon. But I've got no ideas if it's been like that a week or 3 years.

Is the owner of this new boutique one of the two current ADs in the city?

Yes. Like I said their other store is very bare in the Rolex department.

Can only speak of the US market but part of the buy-in for an AD to build a Rolex only Boutique is a guarantee of being a top tier dealer that gets the highest level of inventory. It probably won’t be obvious from the displays but they will be selling lots of watches.

It’s probably Canada’s flagship CPO store

So…what’s the take on working with an additional SA at a second AD when you have an established SA already at the first AD. Since they are owned by same company I could see this being delicate. However would it not help to have wish lists at both locations? It’s not like I am getting calls from the first AD.

Yeah would be a Birks or J Vair.. most likely an expansion of the Birks store though. They really did a nice job on the Rolex half of Birks in the Core.

I've bought some watches in Calgary. Nice they are adding a new boutique to the Chinook Mall, so I'm guessing that's at the Birks near Nordstrom. Nice store, but was missing Rolex (already have Tudor). Brinkhaus, after many years, lost their Rolex as you know. Didn't care for J Vair. The boutique at the Core Mall is nice, but service is poor. Much friendlier at Chinook. Hoping for better experiences. Cheers!

Yup, same thing happened at the Incheon Airport. Big boards with "Rolex and Channel coming soon".

After 1 year, construction boards came down, and neither shop opened.

Would be funny if was used for product advertisement !!

No. It's a separate store from the current birks one.

Not a substore like their downtown location.

It's just an extension of the Birks already in Chinook. I've been using Birks for most of my Rolex and jewellery purchases dating back to my wedding almost 25 years ago. I spoke with staff at both Chinook and downtown and they have no idea on timeframe for when it might open (hopefully late 2023 they said).

I was told if you already deal with the Core location it's best to continue to do so as none of the existing staff are moving. So if you have someone you deal with it's easy to continue to do so. Your purchase history is accessible from the new location (whenever it does open) so I suppose it doesn't hurt to have another place to put your name down.

I'm hopeful because it's easier for me to get to than going downtown, but realistically I don't know that it will change much. Still going to have to wait on anything and it will just be another store full of empty cases.

Respectfully disagree re J Vair. I have had nothing but great experiences with them.
