Love everything about the new one, the BOLD OVERSIZED hands, the Orange GMT, the MAXI markers, BUT, tried one on, and for my punny 6,5" wrist it is simply too big!
Submariner is as large as I can pull off.... Which is why I have the old one incoming! I told my AD, if Rolex ever introduces the Explorer II in smaller size to put me on the list automatically Sent from my SM-A415F using Tapatalk |

Has to be 40mm. 42mm feels unbalanced. Dial is too large, bezel too thin. Band is too wide.
40mm had perfect proportion on top of lovely bevels on the case. 3185 and 3186 movements are rock solid and have top accuracy. |

This is a tricky debate. The larger handset is a massive improvement on legibility — as are the larger plots and orange hand.
The 226570 proportions are better, but the sides are tall and easy to mark. The unusual geometry of the watch causes the 226570 to catch the non-crown side surprisingly often — this does not happen to the 16570. The 40mm case size is better on my 7.5” round wrist; and the 226570 doesn’t fit well, lolling heavily to the outside of the wrist all the time (on my wrist, at least). The original 16570 has no such issues. That said, the overall legibility of the 126570 is far superior, as is the improved bezel geometry as well as rhe AR coated crystal. In addition, the lume has been improved and the dial visibility improved from the previous 216570. Furthermore, the bracelet proportions and the crown alterations are an improvement on the 226570. The 16570 is well balanced, easy to wear, iconic, but suffers with overly small hands which have little to no lume capacity, smaller lume plots, and red hand — which does nothing for the overall aesthetics and carries no pedigree with it; in addition, the gmt hand can be lost over a lume plot due to its positioning — the same is not true of the orange hand. For my money, I’d want the 226570 — the 216570 with its glossy handset just doesn’t capture the ethos properly; the same is true of the 16570. The 226570 does capture the spirit of the watch, but you’d really need a wrist bigger than 7.5” to pull it off — and at that it needs a 1/2 link to stop the head from rolling to the outside of your wrist. Here are some photos on my 7.5” round wrist: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I like both but the orange hand and writing does it for me.
However, my overall favourite is the black dial with the floating hands, matte dial and lume plots with the white gold surrounds (more of a watch). |

Back when the 'new' version came out, I went to see one. The AD had a new in box 16570. Side by side, no question in my mind. I did not let the 16570 Polar pass into someone else's hands.
All these years later I know I made the right decision. The 16570 Polar is the 'right' watch for me. A true Rolex. |
