Has anyone ever seen this before?

I have a 16233 Two-Tone 36mm DJ w/MOP dial set with diamond markers that I inherited from my late uncle. For me, the diamond markers are just too feminine and I'm interested in purchasing an authentic R
olex champagne dial w/batons. I've searched the forums to find this dial to no avail before finding quite a few on eBay. I've come across this one below, but I've never seen an authentic Rolex dial with 'Rolex" markings on the backside? Any information was be appreciated.

PS: Not going to send it to RSC because I will not allow them to keep my uncles original dial. I intend to use a private watchmaker for both, the dial swap and full service.

Thank you,

Certainly does due to the thicker batons, which I like. In the description it does state that it fits the 16233 as well, though I'd have no idea, at all, and I don't want to take the sellers word for it over the experienced Rolex members here on TRF.

I would try for one original to the five-digit version. Those didn't have full lume batons, but gold ones with lume dots at the outside.

Have you asked a Rolex dealer's watchmaker whether they can order one from Rolex and allow you to keep the original? Perhaps a little more flexibility there (but also the peace of mind of the RSC-backed service guarantee).

The dial you describe above was mentioned (and shown) to me in a PM. I do have mu sights set on one as of right now.

No, I haven't asked about ordering one from Rolex, but that's a good idea that I'm going to pass along to my watchmaker when we speak.

To do that, you'd have to go to a watchmaker with a Rolex parts account. For the most part, that seems limited to ADs that also have ASCs (Authorized Service Centers), which can be located on the Rolex website. Generally, independent watchmakers no longer have Rolex parts accounts.

My local AD does not have a watchmaker on premise. In the past I've used an independent who uses only genuine Rolex parts, so I'm going to send the watch and dial to him for the dial swap (which I'll provide) and service. Just purchased this dial here.

Thank you,

If the dial that is in the watch now is genuine, Rolex will let you keep it and fit new parts. The price is different if you keep the parts vs exchange however. If the dial is non genuine, they obviously won't give it back.

I was under the impression that if a specific reference came with specific (authentic) dials you could choose any of them, but Rolex would keep your dial regardless. Thanks for the correct info, and even though it's not too late for a refund, I'm going to proceed with my original plan.

Below is a photo of my 16233 along with the Champagne dial I received to take the place of the MOP dial. I'll be sending out my watch this afternoon for a full service and the dial swap. I'll post pics of it when it comes back to me.

Received my DJ36 this afternoon after having it serviced and the dial swapped. What a difference too me compared to the MOP dial w/diamond markers. Thanks to those who replied to this thread, I appreciate it!

I love the new dial on you a lot better. You're right, the old dial with diamond markers is just too feminine imo. Good choice. Enjoy your new-to-you Rolex.
