Yacht Master II (44mm) on 6.5 inch wrist
Guys,
I am 6'2 tall (185 pounds - athletic frame) with a 6.5 inch wrist and have Bluesy Sub and Rose Gold Diamond Baguettes Daytona, planning to add a 3rd one in my collection and for some reason have always liked YM II despite its big size, folks have been saying it wears more like a 42mm, i did try sky-dweller too (but that felt bulkier and bigger), here are some shots, trying to decide between TT vs YELLOW GOLD: 1. Two Tone 44mm YM II (weight - 200 gm) 2. Yellow Gold 44mm YM II (weight - 260 gm) --> extremely flashy (i love flashy stuff) 3. Stainless Steel version - 175gm? --> but too plain, doesn't have the pop 4. I have a Breitling Navitimer Panda - 45MM size - White Dial - Stainless Steel - i am able to wear it fine Although for my 6.5 inch wrist, atleast 3 links would be taken out (just like bluesy sub, 2 were taken out from rosegold daytona), so that may reduce the weight a little. So far, bluesy is my daily and very comfortable to wear, daytona rosegold also sits pretty good on the wrist, what i am contemplating with YM II 44mm is the SIZE versus weight distribution especially on the YELLOW gold version - anyone here who went for YELLOW over TWO TONE? I never thought i will get another Two Tone Rolex but YM II looks stunning in that with rose gold, the bluesy i have is TT (with Yellow gold). Stainless Steel just looks too plain, bland and boring to me, the weight will be much lower on it. Did try basic SS GMT's/Other YM etc, not my taste. Or should i look into Sky Dwellers as i already have a WHITE DIAL Brietling? |

Just to add another question, do you think that the YM2 will be either discontinued or updated at the next general update event (Watches and Wonders?)? It seems that both the Daytona and Skydweller were updated (YM2 being a chronograph with a bezel command ring), so I’m curious whether a new watch is coming…mind you, it could also be discontinued, or left unchanged.

If you love flashy, yellow gold YM II would be tough to beat short of going for pave dial / diamond bracelets.

I’d be getting the Sky from those choices.
But if it has to be YM2 I’d go for the TT. I think the YG is the worst version.

YG YMII is my vote but I'm biased because I love mine.

YG with 3 links taken out (5g/link), weight will drop from 260 gm to 245 gm, i am thinking of daily wear comfort as well considering this watch will be the heaviest so far, my rosegold daytona had 2 links removed and i think is around 200gm

I’ll be honest: I liked neither on your wrist. Try a ym42 perhaps or a day date 36

Skydweller, and I’m not a fan tbh, but by far looks the best …

Yacht Master II (44mm) on 6.5 inch wrist
IF those are all you, in the pics, they ALL look too big. You need a nice dress watch. May I suggest a 36 mm Datejust, on Jubilee? A PM one, perhaps? Alternatively, a DayDate, also in 36, would look great on you. You could try the DayDate, in 40, as well. Wrist shots of your Bluesy and Daytona would be helpful, for reference

If i am throwing $50k away, i have other options as well - like Daytona Oyesterflex models, but somehow unable to justify paying $12 extra for 33k retail+tax one's, other watches i bought were also GREY markets but did not command more than 5k premiums.

I think you'll find with either the YM or the SD you're getting into another dimension of size...which brings with it sizing problems.
I doubt either one will wear anywhere near as comfortably as the bluesy or the Daytona, but I could be wrong about that. We're all different kinds/shapes/sizes, so you may get lucky. I would tread carefully. Either way, I'd go with the steel model, and then if you fall in love with it, then you can take the next step to TT or full PM. Good luck, |

I have the tt ym2 and it wears fantastic on a smaller wrist. Definitely ugly duckling to most but the complication and “memory” of the movement is fascinating. Thickness is the only issue for wearability imo
