Fluted Dial Rarity

I recently picked up a green fluted dial DJ 41 and I have just realized I have never seen one in a display case or on someone's wrist.

Are these actually rare or have I just never seen one? Doesn't really matter because I'm keeping it forever no matter what. Just curious.

I would say nothing Rolex makes that isn't off catalog is rare; uncommon, maybe, but just a matter of requesting and waiting for it to arrive. There are so many configurations of DJ (I believe someone did the factorial math and it was 733?) that you can go a long time without seeing another one in your configuration. Even just finding another one in the wild with your dial can be difficult to come across.

I requested one when they were announced. Still haven't received a call for one yet.

I got this after almost no wait. Ended up selling it for a mint green DJ41. The mint DJ41 did take a long time to receive.

The fluted dial is very pretty. But I felt like it’s sort of busy for the sake of being busy and I’d tire of it sooner than a clean dial.
