First Rolex with No Purchase History in SG
Hi Rolex Folks,
Has anyone recently got the "call" from ADs in Singapore to get Rolex (any model, incl. less popular ones), without purchase history/ minimal purchase history? Care to share your stories? Just want to check pulse now that prices for some models are softening in grey market, and with the economy / post covid situation... Thanks! |

Ah... I saw one in Tudor boutique in ION recently, but likely just display set, but might worth a try talking to them...

It's more likely to find a Rolex on the pave walk of Orchard road than to get one from AD without history.

Have been visiting several and different ADs every now and then, haven't seen any DDs on display nor for sale so far. You will be surprised certain OPs are even more rare than Daytonas. I heard from a few ADs they don't get much OPs compared to Daytonas..
In my personal opinion, if your goal is to just purchase a grail piece, just go grey. The secondary prices have dropped a lot and some models are already below MSRP. Starting a purchase history to get a single grail piece doesn't make financial sense in the current market situation. You will end up purchasing several watches just to get something u want. Unless you are starting a collection of watches, then you can consider buying several non-Rolex as a start. Good luck! |

This was just posted out this morning from my AD. Sometimes it takes a bit of luck too With grey, go with the more established dealers with a physical shop. I bought a 114060 sub recently from a fairly new grey. To be safe I brought the watch to authenticate at Top Hour. The guy there is popular with watch buyers for authentication service. Cheap too considering a top end authentication will cost u about SGD350. Top Hour charges $50 for SS and I think $80 for PM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Would you mind sharing which AD is that? And is it indicative that supply is slowly getting better? Are the grey dealers usually alright with the watch being authenticated before payment/ full payment is made? Thanks again! |

How to ask for bundle? Just point blank ask the SA? Is it a commitment that the SA can give that if bundle we will get the Rolex? |

My suggestion is not to bother going grey for a Tudor in Sg. Lots of Tudor on offer in AD in HK. These are sold at retail or with a slight discount (depending on model).

My wife walked into Roy Edwards on Orchard Road, and came out with a beautiful new GMT Master.
No previous purchase history. Retail price. Oops! That was 1993 ! |

If budget permits, I reckon going grey for the Rolex that you desire. I went grey for several of my Rolex watches.
Far more damaging to your self-respect to grovel and beg a Rolex SA for Veblen goods. Our time is far too precious to be spent bantering with an SA with whom you’ll never form more than a passing, commercial relationship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
